The Hawaiian island of Maui is a destination for true nature lovers. The ethereal bamboo forest and churning waterfalls in Haleakala National Park can be explored via the Waimoku Falls Trail. Stretch out on warm, golden sands or hit the surf for an unforgettable windsurfing or snorkeling session. Driving the scenic road to Hana along the island’s northeastern shore will be among the most spectacular journeys of your life. Time stands still at the Hawaiian village of Keanae, definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful small cove with a lot of fish and has turtles. Saw an octopus, but only because a fish pecked at it, making it flinch(!), otherwise too well camouflaged for my eyes ;) Access is a significant challenge, as there is no beach, you have to get in/out off sharp and slippery rocks with wave action, had to help someone out of the water, security told us people do get cut up on the rocks ("deep gashes per the guard"). Absolutely not for kids, or anyone with any sort of debility, obesity, age etc. The only way you can get reasonably good access is if you stay at Honokeana Cove condos, as they have a private stairway down to the narrow/rocky beach making access significant easier. i found it easier to wear beach shoes instead of flippers, as then could more easily get in/out and the cove isn't that big for swimming around the would make flippers mandatory. Regardless of all that, if you can get in/out, it is very nice.

This quant harbor was easy to find, with free parking just a block away. There is plenty of signage so not to be confused and plenty of boats and tours to choose from. Easy to walk the block to Front Street for a drink or food after a fun boat trip!

Located in the town of Hana, Maui, Hana bay is known for great swimming and snorkeling.
A picnic lunch was provided by our tour guide on the Road to Hana Adventure. This location is scenic, relaxing.

Wife and I did a waterfall journey down the road to Hana and loved this stop. Right along the road but it's not about the waterfall here but the jumping into the water. There are two main spots on the rocks to try to jump from and if you're lucky you'll get to see some locals jump from the very top. My wife and I both took the plunge.

After a couple of locals recommended this spot, with minimal instructions on how to find the pool, it felt like a secret adventure. We were advised to find the bridge in between 2 houses, climb over the cow gate, walk through the field and turn right at the old outdoor oven and we would find the pool. And find it we did. The colour was exquisite and locals were cliff jumping and just enjoying life. A really perfect find.

Just past mile marker 25 on the road to Hana you will find Makapipi Falls. This waterfall differs from many of the others on this road in that when you view it from the bridge you are standing at the very top of the falls. We opted to drive just a bit past it for a picture. It is one of the many wonderful waterfalls and beautiful sights to see as you drive to Hana.
