The Capitol Steps is a hilarious band of five performers and their pianist. Their rollicking romp through the political atmosphere of the day is 90 minutes of pure fun set to music where they change costumes, wigs, and hairstyles as they portray political headliners in all their glorious (but mostly inglorious) moments. Political satire at its very best! Lirty Dies, a backwards talk routine, stole the show for me. I'm still laughing!

Illusionists Joel Acevedo and Steve Kradolfer join their talents in a performance that is engaging, hilarious, and mystifying. As one of only 50 guests, you will experience the magic just a few feet from your eyes. Add the sophisticated elegance of Boston’s Hampshire House and the result is a uniquely entertaining experience you'll remember for a long time. The event starts 30 mins before showtime with a pre-show reception in the mansion's Baker Bar, where you'll find a vast selection of cocktails and beverages available for purchase. At show time, guests enter the Library where they will witness surreal situations come to life. Common objects will appear, vanish, teleport to impossible locations, and move across the room in inexplicable ways. You will also experience the wonders of the human mind through masterful demonstrations of telepathy, precognition, and mind reading. Join us and see why Four-Handed Illusions is one of Boston's highest rated shows!
If you are looking for something a bit different, and loads of fun, check out these guys. They have been around for seven years, enough time to refine a superbly executed evening of illusions that will keep you baffled. The banter and audience interaction are enough to keep you laughing, and add on top of that some really excellent illusions, and voila! Nice night, followed by yummy dinner at the sublimely cozy 75 Chestnut. Thanks guys!

See the ONLY magician to appear on Penn & Teller: Fool Us THREE Times. Paul Gertner brings his show Miracles & Other Deceptions to Boston at the classic downtown Omni Parker House on Friday nights beginning spring 2018. Miracles & Other Deceptions is a 75-minute program of innovative theatrical sleight-of-hand magic. The show is performed for a small exclusive audience where the magic happens close-up, right before your eyes. The magic you will see is original material created and performed by world champion sleight-of-hand expert Paul Gertner. At each show premium VIP “At the Table” Seats will give 10 lucky people an interactive opportunity to become part of the show. Paul Gertner is recognized by his peers as one of the finest sleight-of-hand magicians in the world today and he holds multiple first place awards in international competitions. Three Magician of the Year Awards from the Magic Castle in Hollywood... Three Tonight Show Appearances... and Three Fool Us Performances.
I simply cannot imagine enjoying a magic show more than I did Paul Gertner's. Before the show, I had watched all of Paul's appearances on Penn & Teller Fool Us on YouTube, and so I came in with pretty high expectations for the live show. Seeing Paul live blew my mind way more than I ever could have expected! He is an extremely nice person and readily involves audience members in breathtaking tricks, which is easily facilitated by the intimate (<20 people) setting. Getting to see Paul's extraordinary sleight of hand up close is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Book your tickets now!!

In Mind Reading Confidential, Jon Stetson shares fun and intimate thoughts from the minds of his audience. He reveals stories that are outrageously funny, or even beautifully heart warming, and every demonstration is amazing. Stetson was the inspiration for the CBS hit television series “The Mentalist”. He blends the art of Mystery with the study of Psychology, the predictability of human nature and the power of intuition, with a disarming sense of humor. The result is slack jawed amazement, where the most skeptical of audience members begin to feel a renewed sense of wonder as impossibilities become realities. Mind Reading Confidential takes place in Boston's historic Omni Parker House hotel, the longest continuously operating hotel in the United States.
It was a fun-filled event in an intimate setting on a cold evening. The show was way more interactive and enjoyable than I had anticipated. Jon Stetson has a great sense of humor and knows how to keep his audience captivated.

Improv Asylum is a comedy theater that features improvisation and sketch comedy. We’ve been described as Whose Line is it Anyway? meets Saturday Night Live!. Improv Asylum is located in the heart of the North End, within short walking distance from Faneuil Hall and is easily accessible via public transportation. There is a $3.00 service charge per ticket on all phone orders. Advance ticket sales are recommended. We are a smoke-free establishment with no minimum drink requirement.
Good friends of mine from the Boston area (who happen to be sketch comics) told me this place was the place to visit in Boston for a fun show w/ friends. So we booked that first show and now (over 5 more Boston trips later) I have never been in Boston and not hit up the Improv Asylum.. it's a must. From the cool "underground" vibe to the super talented comedians, it makes for a fun night out. They have a small bar too and get drink orders pushed out quick. There is normally an intermission too to re-up on drinks or run to the bathroom. Get there if you can, you're welcome! *Also, spring the extra few bucks for the front row, they just might call on you to get involved.

We have seen a lot of different shows here. Some are regulars, like Varla Jean Merman and the Well Strung quartet, while others are one-off or newer shows. Whatever or whoever is in town, we always catch at least one show. This is a user-friendly theater with a bar outside the entrance doors, so you can always be comfortable during the show. Only bad thing is it is open seating (two sections, front and back) so when there is a full house there is a lot of shifting around to get everyone packed in.
