Maspalomas is a sophisticated beach resort… that happens to have a great waterpark. Aqualand Maspalomas is the Canary Islands' largest waterpark, with 33 waterslides. If that's not your style, just relax on a beach with powder-soft sand and majestic dunes, or enjoy abundant shopping and golf.

This long sea-front promenade is the perfect place for an hour’s gentle stroll/jog/cycle. It runs for 2kms from Playa Melonares at its northern end to the 65-metre tall working lighthouse (built in 1886) and Maspalomas beach to the south. For the most part it is pretty flat. It is lined with luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and shops (Boulevard El Faro features high-street and designer brands; the Varadero Centre is more of a tourist resort arcade). Very clean and safe with few beggers or hawkers.

The promenade follows the edge of the beach from north of san augustin to the dunes of Maspalomas, where it diverts around the golf course before continuing along the coast to Melonares. You can avoid the diversion by walking across the dunes, which in itself is a pleasant experience although harder going. We walked the entire length a couple of times during our stay, and enjoyed it very much - generally well made, although there are flights of steps or steep ramps involved at a couple of locations. (Note, there is currently a diversion in place to the north of san augustin due to a land slip. The diversion takes you away from the coast and involves a series of steps).

Set between maspalomas and meloneras this light house gives a focal point. As daylight fails the light comes on, or can be seen, making it an attractive feature at sunset. There are restaurants nearby too.

Finca Canarias Aloe Vera continues growing with San Agustin farm. Overlooking the sea and close to all services, we have more than 1,000 aloe vera plants under development, a small botanical garden with varieties native to the Canary Islands and a chill out space to enjoy and rest. The cultivation of aloe vera is 100% eco and the visit and demo is completely free and in different lenguajes.
Very informative about the Aloe Vera plant and its properties for health. The shop was well stocked and attractive and the people not pushy for sales.
