Marinduque (Tagalog pronunciation: [maɾinˈduke]) is an island province in the Philippines located in Southwestern Tagalog Region or MIMAROPA, formerly designated as Region IV-B. Its capital is the municipality of Boac. Marinduque lies between Tayabas Bay to the north and Sibuyan Sea to the south. It is west of the Bondoc Peninsula of Quezon province; east of Mindoro Island; and north of the island province of Romblon. Some parts of the Verde Island Passage, the center of the center of world's marine biodiversity and a protected marine area, are also within Marinduque's provincial waters.

Visited in December 2019, group of 4. Many options to travel. We took the General Luna way in Quezon. From there took the normal small wooden boat at around 160 pesos only per head. We stayed at my GFs house, and Water is scarce, but electricity is not rationed anymore. The people are the sweetest and hospitable. We made a round of the available resorts. All are fantastic, and that there are actually very little or no guests at all. Talk about undiscovered beauty. There are also no fastfood chains yet, and the beaches are barren of people. There are no long stretches of white sand beaches.. (some guests and visitors will complain about this). And the beach and waters are corals and rocky.. But this is actually to be admired, the raw untouched beauty of the place. We stumbled through the corally waters and collected multi colored star fish (and returned same to the water). We hired a small outrigger boat, and visited the Ungab rock formation, again a small protrusion with an overhang rock that looks dangerously near to disintegrate... Ahahah.. Some guests took their pictures and left. We stayed a while. If i had more time.. I would spend a night at least. Again.. Some visitors who've been to more fantastic locations, will turn a snotty nose at the place. Then the same boat took us to Palad. This outcropping sand bar in the middle of the sea. Depending on the prevailing tide.. The sand bar may be below or out of the water. At the time of our visit.. The sandbar was below the knees underwater. But we still got off the boat and frolicked in the water! There is a small port for the wooden boats, and trips to the mainland and other islands are available. Theplace is marked by big Moriones Statues. Travel around the island is by solo motorcycles. Otherwise, by boat to go arpund the island or other resorts. Enjoyment and fun is NOT in the place. It is in your heart and mind and the people you are with. I actually enjoyed the raw comforts or discomforts.. I don't want five star comfort everywhere I go. For me it's a five star experience...non the less. I'd rather leave the place as is.. Rather than suggest to build a port.. Bigger roads.. Fast food stalls, Six star hotels,etc.. Like they did in Boracay..
