One of the oldest homes in the Atlanta area, the Root House is more typical of its time and place than the columned mansions popularized by Gone With the Wind. Though the home and grounds have been meticulously restored to their 1850s appearance, modern touchscreens and interactive displays have been added to help tell the story of the Root family and their enslaved house servants.

The Aviation Wing is a growing collection of aircraft displayed on a 15 acre campus conveniently located 4.5 miles west of I-75, this museum highlights the impact the aviation industry has had on our local culture. We will show how aviation catapulted our fairly typical, small, Southern agricultural community into the industrial age and how Cobb County has impacted global events. In development of this facility, we also seek to interest America’s youth in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines through exposure to the science and physics of aeronautics and astronautics. Check out our Facebook page, @aviationwingofmarietta or come see us in person. We are open for visitors on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The aviation wing was an excellent experience into the history of Lockheed Martin aviation. The volunteer staff of both veteran and Lockheed former employees were knowledgeable well spoken and eager to tell the history of both airplanes and jets on the exhibit and of their own stories and the places they had been. My twin 4 yr old GRANDBOYS were in awe. They didn't want to leave after being there over 3 hours.

The Marietta Museum of History is one of Marietta's unique treasures. The museum is located in the Historic Kennesaw House, a structure built in 1845. Located just steps off the Marietta Square, the museum is a perfect afternoon activity for visitors to take in along with local lunch and shopping.

This museum is small but our 4 and 2 year old really enjoyed it. The old trucks are so cool to see and the museum is not difficult to access as several have commented. The GPS took us right to it and we parked across the street. The firemen were very kind to my children and let them climb inside their trucks. They have restrooms there and everyone is very friendly. You cannot climb in or on antique trucks, which is understandable. Will go back in a few years.
The Combat Rescue Experience is a living history exhibit that is designed to be an educational, affordable, interactive, fun, and unique experience to get people of all ages outdoors, active, and connected with history. Ride shotgun in military vehicles, sit in a jet cockpit, evacuate casualties to a C-130. Based on events from Beirut 1983.
