Located about 25 miles from the mainland and accessible via air or ferry, Venezuela's mountainous Margarita Island provides Caribbean-style beaches and access to windsurfing, golf, horseback riding and scuba with a laid-back South American vibe. It's comprised of two islands connected in the middle by the mangrove-filled lagoon of La Restinga National Park. Most development falls on the isle's eastern side around busy Porlamar, the capital La Asunción and colonial Pampatar, founded in 1535.

This beach is absolutely beautiful. Its pristine , crystal clear waters are breathtaking on their own. However, the beach cleanliness, light golden sand , mountains and plenty of palm trees only add to the majestic paradisiac view. Its one of the very few beaches of the Caribbean with really wavey waters. We were shocked at how the water is so transparent you can actually see the full bodies of peoples playing inside of the waves. The only negative point about this beach is the insane amount of street vendors !!! Specially if they spot that you're foreign. They will try to sell just about anything. Plenty of massage and other relaxation services are offered as well. So if you're fan of buying souvenirs and getting a massage with a view this may not be a negative point for you. Despite the only negative Point I could find about this beach, I am Still giving it 5 stars because this beach is just too breathtaking!! There is also some sort of security service looking after people's cars at the parking lot. Though the beach itself feels very peaceful and safe ( as of July 2017) . I went on a weekday, and the place was full of foreign tourists. No surprise. This beach is completely natural. From its sand to its waters making of it a truly beautiful gift from Mother Earth. If you're visiting Margarita Island make sure you don't miss it! Will not disappoint :-)

A gorgeous tropical beach where, as locals boast, the sun shines for eleven months of the year.
I have been in playa el agua for few years now, but is still one of my favorites. The water is clean, clear and warn. The sand is white and the ocean brise is very nice. I'm looking forward to there again! I really recommend it!!!
