Great beach, sheltered from the surf. Good views from the walkways through the dunes which is also a pretty good walk.

Turquoise crystal clear waters, calm waters, picture perfect. Amazing to walk along the beach to the boat ramp area and see the rays - so calm and just magical to see nature up close.

This beach is spectacular. The Indian Ocean slams into huge rocks just offshore giving the most incredible displays of sea spray and illustrative power of the ocean. You could spend days watching this stuff. Alas it is also the place where in 1876 the Georgette sank and more than 50 survivors were dragged from the water by a woman on horseback: Grace Bussell aged sixteen and her companion Sam Isaacs.an indigenous farmhand saved fifty of the passengers but unfortunately when the vessel was first abandoned two women and five children were drowned. On a calm day you can still see the shadowy outline of the Georgette about 90 metres offshore.

We left our car behind, as the road was unsealed. We walked for two kilometers. When we found the Canto Beach, we were happy. We met some people and they had a problem. We were at the top of the cliff and to go down, it would be quite steep. They didn’t find this comfortable. I agreed. I looked and found that the best view of the Conto Beach was where we were. We could see everything and enjoy all the elements. People were swimming in the ocean. The waves were huge! Others were using surf boats. The waves were amazing and I liked the light blue color of the ocean. Our newly friends followed us in taking pictures from where we were. It was truly beautiful!

Whether you want to surf or just watch the brave people that do surf in the sea, or you'd like to take a canoe on the calmer waters of the river, or even just swim in the warm, calm and safe shallow water of the river, this is the place for you. Plenty of free parking and you might even spot some fantastic birds!
