Mārahau is a very small settlement in the Tasman Region of the South Island of New Zealand, approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) north of Motueka. Its location on Tasman Bay and at the southern entrance of Abel Tasman National Park makes it a popular holiday destination for those keen on outdoor activities. People access the Abel Tasman from Mārahau by tramping, kayaking and water taxi. In Mārahau itself, the beach offers sheltered and safe swimming, and horse trekking is popular throughout the busy summer season.

We used the water taxi service a few times through the park; great service and a really knowledgeable guide who took us into a few bays to tell us some yarns. Great stuff.

We went up to Awaroa to begin our 3 day walk. What we didn't know was all the extra sights we were shown. We went into an inlet because it was high tide, saw seals, birds as well as a very informative talk. Very professional and safe experience.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful trek along magical Marahau beach with 2 others and Leena as guide. We were so lucky to get the most glorious, sunny weather to enjoy the spectacular scenery and perfect peace and quiet of this part of New Zealand. The initial briefing ensures that everyone stays safe and is able to fully enjoy the trek. The horses are safe, well-schooled and very well cared for. Leena is calm and kind and ensures that everyone enjoys the experience in a safe and relaxed manner. Cannot recommend highly enough.
