Spend the day at this pleasant park which features a zoo, fabulous English gardens, scenic walking paths, a minature train and a theater, among other amenities.
Been here alone, as a couple and with family because it’s above average for a park in the city! I like the big walkways and overall design, plus it’s accessible from many entrances by car or on foot. Restaurant 8-4 serves breakfast too and booze lol. Sculpture garden has bronze Winnie the Pooh and other cool statutes too. Pavilion is beautiful day and night. I love the flower gardens, the art, the outdoor theatre and the three dollar steam train. Also love the nature play equipment for children and it’s extra nice because there isn’t any doggy do do as they aren’t allowed there making it cleaner and safer for young children. If you walk up to Portage Ave., you can buy an awesome burger or awesome ice cream, but expect a line up without washrooms there. Park washrooms clean. My wish is for the zoo to sell tickets like a parking lot would. I wish I could just pop in for 20 minutes and see the kangaroos because their hopping makes me feel so very happy! Id like to pay for the time I spend because often I don’t have a whole day and I spend time waiting for others that could be spent at the zoo. Parks are free, but they cost money to run and I’d be willing to pay ten bucks to see the kangaroos for a few minutes just to make myself feel awesome! Anyway just go and feel great and smile and say hi to everyone! You can skate there in winter and they always have events happening so check their website.

Discover a green oasis in the heart of Winnipeg. This nine-acre (3.6 hectare) park, which encompasses open green spaces and tree-lined walkways, is a national treasure owned and operated by Parks Canada. Enlightening interpretive displays, inspiring sculptures, stone pictographs and ceremonial bronze gambling sticks embody the Site’s rich continuum of historical events that span over 6,000 years.
So much history! So much to see! It is a little sad that the European influence dominates and overshadows the Indigenous Americans', which is much older, richer and more sacred. Many interesting plaques and artefacts from both eras to be seen. I prefer the outdoor displays - the Wall Through Time and Oodena Celebration Circle - and of course quiet walks along the river-walk. It is worth spending an entire day, if that is enough time to see it all. Definitely worth visiting again and again.

I visited Ten Spa for my first time on April 24th for a 50 minute massage to celebrate my birthday while staying in the hotel. The spa is located on the tenth floor of the Fort Garry Hotel. I was welcomed by a friendly staff member when I walked in and provided with a basket for my shoes and socks and given a rope, towel, and sandals. I arrived early to enjoy the steam room and showers before my massage and also stayed afterwards. The changing rooms were clean and pretty! You are assigned a locker to put all of your belongings. The steam room had heated tiled benches and was cozy and relaxing. If you press the button beneath the steam vessel, the lights on the roof turn on and hot steam mists down from the ceiling. The sign outside the steam room said that there would be an aroma in the room, but I didn’t smell anything. Beside the steam room was the experiential shower. There was only one but thankfully, I was the only person in the area at the time so I didn’t have any issues with that. You could press a button for a lovely tropical rain scented mist and then use the shower at the same time for a beautiful experience. The regular showers inside the changing room were beautiful. They had pretty blue tiles and a glass cupboard inside the shower to hang your towel and robe. I loved the rain shower and there were shampoo and conditioner and shower gel inside to use. I enjoyed using the facial moisturizer and body lotion provided in the change room afterwards. My massage was lovely! I was taken to one of the treatment rooms which looked very sterile and almost resembled a doctor’s office. I would have liked if it had a bit more of a cozy feel. My massage therapist was Lisa and she was great. She really worked a lot of knots out and used good pressure. There is a small bar area in the lounge where you can buy wine, beer, mimosas, snack platters and salads. There is free herbal tea, water and small snacks (cookies, muffins and dried fruit). I had a great experience at Ten Spa and will definitely return again. Would really love to try the Hamam!

Located 8 km from downtown, near Crescent Drive Golf Course, Thermea is a new spa that will take you through a unique relaxation experience in nature.
I visited Thermea most recently on April 23, 2021 for the thermal experience to celebrate my 30th birthday. With COVID, things are being run a bit differently then previously, but it was still a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. You are required to make a reservation online for your preferred time as there are capacity limits. The wristband you receive to access your locker and make purchases for food/drink is preset with $150 pre-authorization and you are only charged the amount that you use. The small circular sauna is not open right now, but the two vapour ones (eucalyptus and orange scented) and the large Finnish sauna both are. You have to reserve a spot in the saunas (they run them every half hour, with the different saunas alternating time slots) and it's easy to walk up and reserve a spot for the next available time. Everyone is spaced out nicely in the saunas with towels where you are supposed to sit. Masks have to be worn when walking from pool to sauna, but not while in the pools or saunas. In the pools, there are lanterns spaced out around the perimeter designating where you are to sit on the benches in the pool. I enjoyed having fewer people there and it was much more peaceful. I arrived at 10:30 and the spa was a bit busier to start but people started trickling out after lunch and it became very quiet in the mid afternoon. I enjoyed spending time between the hot tubs, saunas and indoor relaxation areas. There were also various fire pits around the grounds with chairs around them, but it was a bit chilly to be sitting outside. The grounds at the spa are gorgeous and I love the natural landscaping with prairie plants and grasses around the pools. There are naturally flavoured waters and teas available at the front desk. The restaurant has lots of indoor seating in the dining rooms and there are nice views out the windows of the spa. I always love the Vegan Beet Bowl and their sangria is also very tasty. I spent around 5 hours lounging at Thermea and this was the perfect length of time. Would highly recommend and it felt very COVID-safe.
