What to do and see in Manchester, England: The Best Wine Bars

July 21, 2021 Rosalyn Ihle

Famed for its soccer team and music scene, which has produced the likes of the Smiths and Oasis, this center for sports and the arts is a down-to-earth and friendly city. The so-called Capital of the North has overcome industrial decline, bombing (in WWII and by the IRA) to become a confident and cosmopolitan city of well over two million. It is well served by a bus and light rail network. Top attractions include the Lowry art complex, arcade Affleck's Palace and Canal Street gay village.

Salut Wines

It’s all in the name… salut / sa’lu: used to express friendly feelings towards one’s companions before drinking. Good company, good wine and good food, there’s nothing better, except having all that in a great space with excellent service, and that’s the idea behind Salut. Salut brings a Mancunian no-nonsense attitude to wine-tasting. If you want a guiding hand, our knowledgable and friendly team are here to help. If you want to have fun exploring on your own, there’s no better place to jump in and go for it. With over 550 wines by the bottle, 50 wines by the glass, a carefully chosen beer and spirits menu, soft drinks and nibbles and platters to feast on, there's something for everyone!

I was told by a friend to visit as they have a vast array of cask beee on here, 8 in total, which is brilliant for bar out of the city centre. Staff where ace, friendly and knowledgeable, track and trace up and running and dog friendly which is how I choose my venues ultimately. I’d already eaten earlier and I did just come for the beer, sample 6 halves from 6 casks and all where spot the on, the bar manager is doing a blinding job
