What to do and see in Managua, Managua Department: The Best Shopping

August 11, 2021 Veronika Gaddis

Six thousand years ago, human footprints were left in the volcanic mud along the shores of Lake Managua. Preserved over centuries, these footprints can be seen at The Museum of Acahualinca in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. In addition to the footprints and impressive collections of pre-Colombian artifacts in the city's museums, Managua has much more to offer. The Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve is a watery retreat within the city, with bars, shops, ziplines, and a canopy ride with views of downtown.

Calle Mas Calle Artwear

Calle+Calle Artwear is a leather accesories manufacturing company making a full line of handmade leather fashion products. Our signature vintage effect is created through special washing treatments to our leather. Third generation saddle makers achieve the perfect balance between craftsmanship, design, luxury, and longevity. Each creation an exclusive and beautiful accesory for a discerning client.. Calle+Calle accesories are designed and manufactured by formerly LA based Colombian fashion designer Nicole Vasquez at Calle+Calle's own atelier in Nicaragua, honoring centuries old tradition of hand stitched perfection. Calle+Calle Artwear only uses the highest quality 100% vegetable tanned cowhides, cured in centuries old methods, and each piece made with low tech, artisan methods, rather than with the high tech conformity of mass production precision, making each piece unique. Every Calle+Calle's product has an aged look and rough hewn, time honored feel that just gets better and better with each wearing.

If you're a tourist and need your share of souvenirs then this is the place in Managua. Go to the big building where there's local food and you'll experience just about any Nicaraguan dish at relatively cheap prices, an average price per meal is about 3 dollars. Don't be shy and talk to the locals, they're friendly and willing to guide you or give you directions.
