My girlfriend and I took about a two hour tour to isla corazón. Carlos was our tour guide he was very professional friendly and very knowledgeable of the ecosystem of the river and the mangrove system. We saw countless species of birds and the habitat of the crabs living in the mangrove. 12 dollars made for an amazing day trip thank you Carlos.

Bosque Seco Lalo Loor is a private reserve that protects the very few remaining patches of low land dry forest in coastal Ecuador. Mainly, we function as a biological research station but also invite travellers, students, or anyone interested in eco tourism to explore the flora and fauna unique to this area. We are located on kilometer 25 on the road between Pedernales and Jama. Hours of operation: Monday to Sunday 8am - 5pm Entrance Fee: $5,00 per person. Children under 8 years old are free. A full day tour to the 'Silver Island' is very worthwhile to do. You can get unusually close to many peculiar, blue- and red-footed birds.
