Yet another lovely old town on Lake Garda, Malcesine is an elegant resort at the base of Castello Scaligero. Enjoy a leisurely day of shopping in town (making sure to stop at an outdoor café with a lake view), or if you’re getting restless, take a cable car to Monte Baldo for skiing in winter or challenging hiking in summer.

Nothing special. Crew were helpful and the trip does not take long. No amenities on board. Crossing gives good views from the lake of both Malcesine and Limone and the spectacular mountains in the backdrop.

For a very appropriate entrance fee (6e) you see a very well thought out presentation of history and natural habitat. Together with a beautiful view and a pleasant town, this is a great destination to see.

Monte Baldo is a fantastic place to visit during a trip at Lake Garda. Easy access via Cable Car (you might want to buy your tickets earlier to jump the long queue at the ticket office) Fantastic views, great for hiking or just a little walk. You might want to consider renting a mountain bike or go for a paragliding tandem flight with one of the local professional tandem pilots.

A pleasant easy walk from Malcesine centre passing bars, restaurants & beach areas. Good at any time of day, although during early mornings the views of the hills & mountains at the north end of Lake Garda can be of special clarity.

We did not walk the Alpacas but did get to pet them in the pens and watch them. Along with looking and purchasing scarves for gifts to bring home. They had a variety of Alpaca made products that were all beautiful and oh so soft. I am sure they will get lots of use this upcoming winter. The colors were so pretty of all the items. Check them out while on Monte Baldo.

You can visit the Captains Palace and see the fresco and gardens by the lake for free during the day. We went to a classical morning concert which was performed by a flautist and pianist. This was held upstairs in a beautiful room with views over the lake. Drinks (prosecco or non-alcoholic) and snacks were included in the ticket price. A holiday highlight.
