In November 2019 I had a tour with Julio, and now I can say that it was my best sightseeing tour in the year. Julio is a nice guide/buddy, and this tour is very well organized. Julio picked me up by calling me to my room at the hotel front desk exactly at 9:00AM. During the tour we saw many places of Lima, including the local market, the historic center, Parque de la Muralla and Barranco District. Julio knows every aspect of Lima transportation system, so we were able to move between important places quickly and without traffic jams. The tour took 4 hours, and they were action-packed hours. You won't be able to finish early and in fact you will be a little exhausted after the tour. I recommend that you take this particular sightseeing tour and another tour outside of Lima. While this is a good tour, there is a lot places you need to see outside of Lima in Peru.

My husband and I booked a private tour for 7 days/6 nights in the Manu Biosphere with a particular emphasis on birding. Our adventure started on Feb. 27th. While we knew this would be during the rainy season, we also knew it would be our only chance. We were not disappointed. Far from it. We had an incredible trip. Starting with the advice and support we got pre-trip from Percy, to the expert knowledge and skill of our guide Simon, to the amazing food prepared by Eloy, and including the skill of our drivers (van and boat). We never once questioned our safety despite several iffy road situations and a river swollen from recent rains. Two weeks prior to our trip serious landslides closed numerous roads in the region. During our trip we had the unusual experience of observing an ocelot walk several hundred meters along the river bank. We observed at least nine different primates and identified 211 different bird species (Simon saw at least 50 others that we didn't). The giant otters were out playing the morning we spent on Salvador Oxbow Lake. We spotted a south american coati on the river shore. Waking up to the roar of howler monkeys is hard to describe. Overall an incredible adventure. The three lodges we stayed in were all decent with mosquito netting, electricity, real toilets, and one even had Wi-Fi (Paraiso, El Dorado, Casa Matsiguenka). The food, prepared by Eloy, was outstanding, fresh, full of vegetables, and we teased him about making enough for three times more people than we had. No one will go hungry with Eloy cooking. Breakfast, snack, lunch, appetizer, and dinner every day. Sometimes a table and chairs would be popped up for a lunch beside the road, sometimes we ate in the boat, but most of the time we ate in the lodge dining room with Simon. Simon was absolutely amazing at finding birds and other animals in the jungle that we never would have seen otherwise. Percy, the boat driver, came on several birding expeditions and had a very keen eye. We enjoyed talking with Simon during the trip about his experiences. He grew up in the Manu region and is clearly passionate about the jungle and all its gems (birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, plants, and people). He has led multiple expeditions for researchers and explorers. We speak very little Spanish but Simon is proficient in English. As far as it being the rainy season, I believe we got lucky. It didn't rain that much and when it did it was usually at night. There were only a couple hikes we did where I needed to put on mosquito repellent. Sun burn was way more of an issue for us. Several reviews have commented on the road and the length of time is takes to get to the jungle. For us, every minute on the bus and in the boat was worth it. We won't forget this experience and the people who made us feel like royalty as we got the briefest glimpse of this amazing natural area. I hope Peru's government can continue to protect this unique natural resource. Thank you Percy, Simon, Eloy, and the rest of Amazon Trip Peru's staff for sharing your gifts with us.

We have been wanting to go to Peru for a long time, and finally decided to go last December with Veru Voyage, and we must say that though it rained a tad (we knew this before hand because it's the rainy season) we couldn't be happier. We did the Lares trek along with Lake Titicaca/Puno and Arequipa, each place is totally different and each one of them offers completely different experiences. Though most recommend not going during the rainy season, and I understand why, everything is so green and beautiful that we think that it's actually a good idea, if we had to do it all over again we would choose the end of the rainy season towards March or April, where everything is still green but it doesn't rain as much. The team at Veru was brilliant, they did everything for us and we could not be happier, it's a boutique travel agency with great service and great price for what you end up with, highly recommended.

This trip was easily my best experience during our visit to the Peruvian Amazon. The location of the eco-lodges is absolutely stunning, being both completely surrounded by rainforest and waterways. There is even a small and isolated village nearby where you can acquaint yourself with some of the locals. If you decide to visit the village, I recommend you try some of the locally made liquors and that you stock up for the duration of your stay. Our guide, who went by Edwin, was a wonderful person to experience the trip with. He made sure that we were well taken care of and his knowledge of the jungle and its inhabitants was extensive, to put it lightly. The rest of the staff we got acquainted with were all super friendly and always made us feel welcome. Every excursion was a trip to remember. At no point were any of us bored with the itinerary we were provided with. I do however have to point out that the included activities are not for the faint of heart, as we were constantly exposed to dangerous flora and fauna. To us however, this was what made our trips into the jungle so authentic and profound. The eco-lodges are simple, but provide you with electricity, cold showers (which is all you'll want due to the extreme heat) and shelter from mosquitoes. There is a large main hall where people get their water from, as well as where large groups gather to eat, socialize and generally have a good time. However, there is no wifi anywhere. So if that matters to you, now you know. The food was delicious. They even provided my brother with vegetarian dishes to accommodate his diet. Also, if you go fishing for piranhas they'll cook one that you've caught for you to try. Summarized; For anyone looking to experience the Amazon Rainforest at its most authentic, this is the way to do it. Though you'll have to decide for yourself if you or anyone coming with you can cope with the dangers inherent to such an expedition.

We had 2 nights in the Amazon at Amazona Posadas. We packed in a lot to very little time. The lodge was beautiful and very comfortable, food was excellent. Our guide was very good but seemed a bit disinterested at times. Very knowledgeable. We then went to Cusco, had a walking tour and cooking class. Our new guide, Albero was excellent. Our cooking class with Jesus was fun, very accommodating. We then moved on to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Highly recommend the hike at MP Mountain. Our guide was very supportive and patient! Next we then went to the Rainbow Mountain. Unfortunately, though I requested we NOT go to Vinicunca, that is where we were taken. It was very beautiful, but very crowded. I did not understand why we did not go to Palcoyo. Was told later it was not accessible due to landslides. This may have been the case, but was unhappy about the lack of transparency prior to embarking. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and grateful to have completed it before the travel restrictions were set in place for the COVID pandemic.
