Kandariya Mahadev Temple

Reviewed By sleepytreakker - Jaipur, India

Such an amazing experience. The exterior structure of Kandariya Mahadev is based on a main tower (shikhara), the temple's highest point, which symbolizes Mount Kailash, Shiva's Himalayan mountain home. This main tower is surrounded by 84 smaller spires (urushringas). The whole building is made of sandstone, with a granite foundation.

We visited Khajurao a couple of days ago and I was simply blown away by the beauty of the 1000 to 800 year stone temples. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is meticulously maintained by the Archeological Survey of India. The exterior and interior carvings are simply stunning and as beautiful as described in guide books. We had a very knowledgeable guide named Sanjay Khare. +919425143587. I'd reccomend a stop over at this amazing place if you have time on an India trip.

Badal Mahal Gate

Reviewed By IndusExcursion - Jabalpur, India

Whenever we talk about Chanderi, we will find first picture as Badal Mahal. Actually it is not a palace, as per its name but its status is very high, It is mainly a beautifully carved & designed gateway inside a complex. From outside, it looks as if we are entering into a palace building but from inside, we will find a large garden area with lush green grass and Badal Mahal gate as the main attraction of the complex. In past, when VIP guests visits Chanderi, they were formally welcomed here thus its importance is very high. During Chanderi sightseeing, tourists should must visit this place and take photographs. We can visit this place in daytime and it is just close to Jama Masjid. Approach road is good, can be reached by car or bus, but after passing through congested local fruit & vegetable market. Hiring guide for Chanderi local sightseeing is highly recommended as variety of monuments are scattered over large area, in very good condition. Without proper knowledge, we may miss important places.
