This fascinating attraction leads you to discover the Moray Firth’s underwater habitats, with realistic displays taking you from the shoreline to the murky seafloor – you’ll meet hundreds of local fishy characters of all shapes and sizes. Look out for the shark hatchery and get hands on with seashore critters at the touch pools. Don’t miss seeing the feeding frenzy when divers jump in with the fish in the unique kelp reef tank! There is an audio tour, quizzes for the kids and a gift shop with souvenirs for all pockets. Enthusiastic staff will help make your visit memorable. Covid-compliant safety measures are in place and pre-booking required.
Surprised how long we spent in the Aquarium which is testimony to how interesting it is. We were amazed at the varieties of fish on display and full credit goes to those that designed the layout and the various displays. Staff in the reception and shop were very welcoming and helpful.

A cliff top parkland course which certainly presents a challenge for the more serious golfer, and offers enjoyable golf in an ideal setting for the not so serious. A warm welcome awaits all visitors to Royal Tarlair and all we ask of you is to enjoy your golf while here.

Scotland's only mainland gannet colony. A wonderful, wild clifftop nature reserve with over 3,000 pairs of nesting gannets. It's also a great place for spotting whales and dolphins and in spring you'll see lots of other seabirds including the odd puffin!
Follow the sign off the Gardenstown - Pennan road, through a farm, to a small car park. Then follow the RSPB sign-posted paths to the cliff tops for stunning views of gannets on the ground, on the cliffs or on the wing.. Sensible footwear and clothing recommended, as the weather can change rapidly (as we found out). There might be no one else there, or a crowd of birders (we were lucky with the former). Well worth a trip if you're in the area.

My family had a holiday in Macduff in 1957, when buses used to transport people to Tarlair. A wonderful place, and setting, for a holiday. Visited in 2018 - hard to find from Macduff, eventually found a small sign on a lamppost pointing in the right direction. Very sad to see this magical place so dilapidated. I contacted Aberdeenshire Council. I was told about the 300,000 pounds set aside to save the place, but that was announced in 2012 and nothing seems to have happened. Difficult, given people’s many more choices for holidays these days, plus the weather is so unreliable in an exposed location. There used to be a life-size draughts board next to the outer pool - I have a photo of this, plus others of family in the boating pool in dinghies. And I remember drinking Horlicks in the pavilion! Fond memories!
