Ann Schroeder makes fine art quilts inspired by the Cape Breton landscapes, weather, and music. They are designed to hang on a wall, not to cover a bed. When you visit her seaside studio you will also find hand-dyed silk scarves, collages, and fabric for quiltmakers. She'll be glad to answer your questions and tell you about her favourite places to hike or listen to local music.

Located in Mabou, Nova Scotia, on the rugged west coast of Cape Breton Island. Our flock of sheep is shorn once a year in the spring and their wool is transformed into a variety of unique, handmade products! Our shoppe retails sheepskin products, hand-dyed yarn, and knitting supplies, as well as handwoven items and handcrafted knitwear crafted in our tiny textile studio above the store.

Visited Mabou on a day trip. The beach is beautiful, the waves were rolling in over our feet in the sand. It was a little windy but it was well worth it. A must see area on a visit to the Halifax area.

The Mabou River is particularly pretty and sound of it is West Mabou and the beach. To the north of it are hills of mining country. Looking for the old mines site, we attempted a drive up a long, long dirt road and turned back taking a second road to the Mabou lighthouse and working wharf. Got some pretty pics and enjoyed the stop very much.
