1 - 3 hour trail rides available on reliable well-schooled horses through magnificent countryside. Half day - overnight hikes with highly experienced guide. Or combine the two for a fun-filled day of adventure. Lead-rein pony rides for the little ones!
Amazing overnight at Lydenrust farm with friend and kid. We felt spoiled by the warm welcome from Alison and the Palomito house was perfect for us. Very friendly farm animals and stunning scenery! If you are looking for a stop over on your way to Kruger or just in need of a break from the city with your little ones, this is the place to go. The horse riding is a must as well! We wish we could have stayed more.

My partner Alison, myself, along with my mate and his wife and my brother in law, went back to Hops Hollow again as a ‘base’ for some adventure bike riding. My brother in law and I were last there in December 2019. Nothing has changed. It was great to see Willie (the manager) and the same staff again. They went out of their way to make our short stay amazing. Willie even moved his vehicles out of the way (again) to allow us to park our motorcycles at the back and under cover. Without needing to check the menu, I ordered the Lamb stew - WOW, never fails to impress the taste buds - I have ordered this meal every time I have been there - four times in total. Such a wonderful place to unwind while siting by the fire. Thanks again Willie, and your Merry staff - see you soon.

Nestled 20 kilometres north of Ohrigstad, on route to Tzaneen, the Three Rondavels, the Echo caves, Bourkes Luck Pothole and a must see - the second largest gorge in the world - The Blyde River canyon, is the THE SHOE GUESTHOUSE. Shaped as a large, single boot shoe that resembles the nursery rhyme of the Old Woman in the Shoe, this attraction is a non-negotiable stopover. The attraction boasts accommodation and meal facilities, as well as, surrounded by an African context boasts a museum of crafts and woodwork. At a small additional fee, you can enter the museum and feel the ambiance of original African art, with wooden sculptures of Mother Mary, and various African wildlife. This museum also provides a peak into furniture and clothing from the 50's and 60's, which adds to the eclectic environment of the Shoe. A must for photographers to stop and place their mark at the shoe, with souvenir photos, and any tourist will simply delight in its natural, African environment. The Shoe Guesthouse is a must to either stop or sleep over. An experience that one will not easily forget.
