We stayed in Luquillo for 11 days in February/early March. There are several nice stretches of beach in the area. This one is nice but the only pay to park area. The plus side of that is you don’t have to hunt for a place to park but it does cost. If you have young children this is a great option as the break is very gentle compared to the other more exposed beaches- really more like a big swimming area. The beach itself, is nice, wide and there is shade. There are services but strangely you have to pay a dollar to use the bathrooms and locker room. Apparently the picnic areas were much nicer and covered before the last hurricanes so that hasn’t been completely repaired yet. You are within walking distance from the kiosks and can access them from the beach for food and there is also a snack bar, umbrella rental and alcoholic drinks available. The day we were there it was not crowded but it was a week day so that may change on weekends- but that was true with all the beaches in the area. If you have been to Magan’s Bay on St Thomas, we thought this had a very similar feel to it and the beach was of equal quality. It is also close to El Yunque so you could easily do both in the same day if you did not spend a lot of time hiking. All in all, we would visit here again.

This beach is beautiful, wide, clean, calm and great for swimming. There are palm trees for shade and plenty of space to walk down and have a private spot (we visited on a weekday in March). One thing I was confused about when reading reviews is that some people mentioned there being a lot of garbage. To be clear, this part of the beach (Montserrat Luquillo) is managed by PR department of natural resources. It is well maintained and free of garbage (from our experience). If you walk to the left toward the kiosks, the maintained part of the beach ends at Luquillo Beach (directly across from the kiosks) which does have garbage. Just stick to the maintained part for an ideal beach day!

Las Paylas is a spectacular hidden gem of nature just outside the El Yunque Rain Forest. You literally pay $5 to park in a local's driveway and follow a path down a steep hill that leads to this river with freshwater waterfalls and pools. You can trek up the rock formations and slide down the natural water slides if you dare, it's an exhilarating experience and is a must see for older teens and adults who enjoy a thrilling experience.

Spring Break 2020- this is our favorite beach in PR. So much to love about this location it has convenient and ample parking with sidewalks and a short walk to get to the beach. This beach has a nice chill family vibe and good surf. There are food truck(s), surf board rentals and a bar all close by which makes this spot so nice to hang out at all day.

Awesome little place with produce, art, jewelry, baked goods, and gifts for loved ones back home! We bought cookies, a tiny bracelet for our baby girl, and a necklace for our toddler son which he loves. Lots of easy parking. :) Hours are 8:30am-1pm on the second and fourth Saturdays all year round!

Balneario Monserrate, often referred to simply as Luquillo Beach, is a long cresent of fine sand, with plenty of mature palm trees for shade, and El Yunque National Forest in the background. Due to a fringing reef, there are no waves to speak of, so it's a perfect beach for young kids. The beach has some food kiosks, restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and lifeguards. There is a small fee to park in the gated parking area.
This beach is in the perfect location and it's one of the nicest I've ever experienced...and I've experienced a lot of beaches all over the world!! Clean, clear water, small waves so perfect for families with young children, and right next to the famous Luquillo Kiosko's for food, drink, fun and music. This has it all - Outstanding!!
