The Picture Gallery houses portraits of the erstwhile nawabs of Awadh. The portraits were quite fine, with intricate details. The caretaker also pointed out to us a few amazing bits here & there. Like how the nawab's shoes seem to move! Our minds were also blown off by the view that the Gallery offered. The Clock Tower to the left, Chhota Imambara straight ahead, & the Satkhanda to the right. Photography is prohibited. The Husainabad Picture Gallery also doesn't seem to be frequented by tourists. We'd the place almost to ourselves.
Jai Prakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia—two fiery brands of nationalism—became friends ever since they met in Nashik Jail in 1932. Even in death, they are remembered together. In Lucknow, right next to the Ram Manohar Lohia Park, a new wedge-shaped structure has emerged—one dedicated to Jai Prakash Narayan. A museum celebrating the freedom-fighter politician’s life.
