Long Island

An island in the Bahamas best known for its shark feeding dives.

Reviewed By MBullard - Rhode Island, United States

An amazing island; completely free of typical "tourist scene." If you love nature, this is the place to go. We would definitely go again. Tip for getting there and away: Learn from our mistake, DO NOT FLY SOUTHERNAIR CHARTER. Either use BahamasAir out of Stella Maris airport or pay for your own private charter. SouthernAir Charter cancels their flights and this is apparently a "known" thing. We didn't know this unfortunately. They canceled our return flight because they didn't sell enough tickets. As a result, we lost our last day of vacation as well as the money we'd paid for our rental house, and what should have been one 10-hour travel day home, was turned into two days of travel home with a nearly 24-hr stay on Nassau (a place we never wanted to go).

Columbus Point

Scenic lookout point offering spectacular panoramic views of the coast.

Wow! I wanted to see the area where Christopher Columbus landed on Long Island, which was awesome. I was not expecting the beautiful hike up the small hill (with new concrete stairs). The view was spectacular! Also the road off of the Queens Highway to get to the monument is one of the widest and best on the island. Worth the drive!

Deadman's Cay Caves

A cave so extensive, it hasn't all been mapped yet.

Reviewed By 14jkc - Pittsburgh, United States

This was a great tour and Leonard is a fantastic guide. He has so many personal stories from throughout his life that are interesting and funny. You just can't get that kind of tour anyplace else. I thought I would be freaked out by the bats, but they were tiny and didn't bother us at all. The caves are beautiful and I am so intrigued by their use as a hurricane shelter. This is one of those tours that you need to do every time you visit LI!

Dean's Blue Hole

Reviewed By 975williamr - Vero Beach, United States

You can park the car and walk onto a beautiful beach, then walk in about 3-4 Ft of water and then swim over the blue hole where the depth drops to 600+ Ft — simply amazing beautiful ?? Fish are everywhere !!
