We keep our boat at Derby Motor Boat Club on the opposite side of Sawley Locks and this is our regular haunt for a drink and snack. Dave and Kathryn are great hosts and the ability to try out three third-of-a-pint local beers is an unusual way to drink a pint! Well worth a visit!

This is a great place but so tiny that if you go at busy times there is standing room only, although it is a micro pub, but if at these times you want to enjoy a quiet drink, forget it.Beers are excellent so is wine, AND they serve tea and coffee and filled rolls.

The park, is a great place for both peace and quiet, or a bit of recreation. The car park, is situated with the gym/swimming pool. With easy walking distance of the train station/town centre. Saturday's it holds the adult parkrun, Sunday's, the Junior parkrun. Long Eaton Rugby Club, a number of council maintained Cricket and Football pitch. It does come with a surrounding berm. Designed as a flood defence. Taken to capacity, it can hold 65 million gallons. It is used more regularly for that, but not to 65 million gallons. The area down towards the cemetery/canal, is the area generally affected. Erewash Council, do a great job with it. West Park, along with the park in Ilkeston, holding the Green Flag Award.

Spring Lakes Watersports Centre is a watersports facility for all ages and abilities. We have a full wakeboarding cable and a 2 point cable for beginners. We also have a brand new, bespoke, state of the art aqua park, which can be used by anyone over 1.1 meters tall. There is an onsite cafe along with pedalos, paddleboards and open water swimming.
Fabulous place, a real joy and absolute asset to the area. We’ve been open water swimming for a while here and each time it’s perfect - we always leave happy, fulfilled and grateful for the facility. Staff are all lovely and it’s been a pleasure to watch how it’s grown since opening. We’ve also done the inflatable which is loads of fun and started wakeboarding which is probably one of the best things we’ve done (and we’re a group of 40 something, not so fit ladies) ???? so if we can do it!! Alex the instructor is brilliant - is attentive and gives excellent training with great depth of knowledge and reassurance, which makes you feel safe and confident. Seriously, if you’ve been thinking about doing something different or learning something new, I would highly recommend !! We booked the beginners wakeboarding session which is excellent value and we’re looking forward to continuing this alongside our swims. Highly recommended venue, staff and activities.
