What to do and see in London, England: The Best Hiking Trails

August 25, 2021 Phylicia Berquist

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

Chiswick House and Gardens

Reviewed By TalDarkLeanMean - Staines, United Kingdom

Gardens have many uses. Other than impressing the visitors, entertaining guests and just plain showing off, their main purpose is peace, quiet, relax, seclusion and most importantly escape from urban life. Strolling around in this park like garden does have a very calming effect. It not only takes the worries off your mind but it also awakens the thinking side of your brain. And you can finally understand owner's fixation with having such a lavish playground at their doorstep. Because it must've made them feel like an Roman emperor. The Chiswick House is part of English Heritage that also looks after the mighty Stonehenge. The actual building is just one small part of this vast garden that was inspired by ancient Rome. Since Italians have a reputation for being a poetic, creative, artistic type so garden is very important element in their household otherwise they probably wouldn't have been as influential. This estate has all the elements that Italian garden needs. The location close to the river, design, architecture, style, class, elegance and above all, its wrapped up in nature.
