What to do and see in Little Italy, New York (NY): The Best Gift & Specialty Shops

December 31, 2021 Weston Hennigan

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

Di Palo's

We picked up a red wine from the di palo wine shop next door and paired it with salami, prosciutto, ricotta, mozzarella & stiffer cheeses and olives. Talk about delicious combination! We talked with Lou di Palo who just wrote a new book and he is a very gracious person. It was a pleasure to stop by there and I will definitely return next time I am in NYC.

E. Rossi & Company is the oldest gift shop of its kind in New York's Little Italy. It is chock full of Italian treasures, and items of interest to Italian Americans. Proprietor Ernesto is a joy to meet, and the space is infused with the charm of nostalgia and tradition. Buonissimo!
