What to do and see in Little Italy, California (CA): The Best Things to do

July 22, 2021 Chanda Heide

Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Biordi Art Imports

Biordi Art Imports is the leading importer of fine handcrafted Italian ceramics. We specialize in pottery all imported directly from Italy, including Dinnerware and Home Decor. We work with artisan families who produce this fine work of art from Umbria, Tuscany and Sicily. Biordi Art Imports has been in business for 74 years, located in San Francisco in the heart of North Beach.

Under new ownership, this entrancing shop is located, appropriately, in San Francisco's North Beach (Italian) neighborhood. Anyone who's shopped in San Gimignano in Tuscany will recognize the artistry of the collections of hand-painted ceramic pitchers, platters, tableware, lamps, and décor on offer. I never fail to find another stunning piece of Deruta I must own, or give as a gift. They also provide repair work done by the previous owner - what a boon to the clumsy among us. And they ship, too, so be sure to sign up for their mailing list. Visiting Biordi is a "must see" when you're in San Francisco. Then stop by Café Trieste for a macchiato.

This sweet shop was a stop on food tour of China Town and North Beach, and we were there to try the famous seven-layer fudge, which proved to be worthy of its billing. The flavors of each layer were distinct but combined together into a delicious whole. There are lots of other sweets to get here, but the fudge is rightfully the headliner and worth a stop.
