Charles Lindbergh's 1927 flight from New York to Paris launched an aviation revolution. Tour his boyhood home, explore the visitor center exhibits, including a "Spirit of St. Louis" flight simulator, and walk an interpretive trail along the river. Additional trails are located in the adjacent Charles A. Lindbergh State Park. The site is a National Historic Landmark. The site reopens for its season May 26, 2018.
I would strongly recommend this museum. It was very interesting and great learning for all. Well worth the visit!

The museum building is small, but it covers lots of Minnesota military history going back to Indian wars. The exhibits are well done with lots of personal stories. The tanks outside allow children to climb on them which is great for children.

Explore, Encounter and Rediscover the Wonders of the Wild at Pine Grove Zoo. We invite you to stroll along our paved paths to encounter a variety of exotic, as well as native wildlife, at home in their natural habitats. To enhance your Zoo visit, our interactive petting stable encourages you to recapture the simple wonders of these gentle animals. We are dedicated to promoting educational, environmental and conservation messages while creating life-long memories for families and visitors of all ages. Nestled next to our beautiful Zoo, amongst the last standing grove of white pines in Minnesota, are serene walking trails as well as a large picnic and playground area.
This "zoo" was always just some cages with bears and monkeys alongside the driving path, and a large 'pasture' with buffalo and elk, when we were kids. With the closing of the old Smuda's Zoo, this is now the only zoo in town. What a surprise! We haven't been here in years, but this is really a full-fledged zoo now, with a wide variety of animals. Our grandson (elementary schooler) enjoyed it, and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and health of the animals. This is a great little zoo for anyone visiting the local area, and there is a playground and pavilion at the other side of the park, for family outings. If you like hiking, the former driving paths are now for hikers only.

In 1998 the city of Little Falls gave it's approval and support for the Minnesota Fishing Museum. The current collection of over 10,000 artifacts is beautifully displayed and lovingly maintained. A "log cabin" set recreates an old time fish camp at the lake. A large diorama depicts a typical spearing dark house on a frozen lake, complete with a Northern Pike moving in to be taken. Numerous displays showcase the artifacts found in many anglers' tackle boxes through the years. Motors dating back to 1902 are displayed throughout. The aquarium with live native fish is the focal point for learning and just plain relaxing. The Minnesota State record fish display inspires anglers to catch "the big one."
I planned this on our trip, for my bf, who's in his 50s and LOVES fishing. The kids & I aren't as hardcore as him, but we did find the trophy fish mounts interesting. There is a lot to see, and although most of it...MoreThank you so much for your kind words and I am so glad that everyone was able to enjoy your visit to the museum. I am glad that you were able to relax while your bf enjoyed reliving his childhood memories. Thank you again! ~Brenda

We drove from Minneapolis because on the colors map it was saying that 75% to 100% of the trees were at peak color. Well....it was not the case unfortunately. We still enjoyed the walk on the trails. Trails could be better identified, not very clear where you are and where you go but anyway, we figured it out. It cost a reasonable $5 per car to get in.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Linden Hill consists of two mansions, situated on nine acres, overlooking the Mississippi River. The mansions, fully furnished with original artifacts, were built in 1898. One mansion houses the Linden Hill Museum, the other can be rented for special events. There is a walking tour on the grounds that is open year round and free to the public!
Went with a girlfriend and enjoyed the tour. They decorated both houses for the holidays and only did the tours thru dec 6. If you have a chance to do a tour it's worth the hour. Nice that the community has dedicated to keeping the history.

When my wife and I visit any new town, we check to see if the county historical society museum is nearby. We've found that these museums provide invaluable, detailed history of the surrounding area, bringing us up to speed on the vicinity's local settlement, development, economy, and culture (often made vivid with exhibits and artifacts).
The Morrison County Historical Museum is in Little Falls, on a gorgeous bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The museum is named for, but not specifically about, the great lumber baron of an earlier era, Charles Weyerhaeuser.
This museum is a beauty.
It's the most professionally designed Historical Museum I've seen for a town of it's size, with numerous artifacts, geological descriptions, and displayed memorabilia.
And in the middle of the building, is a large, lovely open-air courtyard leading to a tree-shaded gazebo, cantilevered out over the bluff, overlooking the curving Mississippi River.
The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m, and it's just down from the Lindbergh Museum. Well worth a visit.

Great River Arts is a nonprofit arts & event center sustaining our community's artistic and economic vitality by providing high quality arts programming in our historic downtown building. We also provide a unique backdrop provided by Minnesota Artists for private and public events. We operate 4 Visual Arts Galleries, host a wide variety of youth & adult education and many live performing arts events including Dinner Theater. For a complete listing of upcoming events visit our website.
Have been to Great River Arts on several ocassions but most recently for the opening of a show they had just hung featuring members art. There was quite a variety of work - paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture and it was wonderful to see all the great talent. That said, I wouldn't write a reveiw just because of an art exhibit. GRA has so much more going on. They offer concerts, classes, and special events. They have a monthly open mic. night.
The staff is friendly and energetic and always ready to answer questions, explain things, etc.
Depending on your interest you may just pop in for a quick viewing of what's hanging in the gallery, or spend a couple of hours for a concert, or take a class and learn a new skill - it is truly a wonderful place.

I noticed this cemetery during training up at Ripley. It is located just as you exit the highway, across the railroad tracks before the entrance to Ripley. Solemn and beautiful, there are headstones and markers all over the grounds, organized as carefully as you would expect veterans to be honored. The flag pole towering over the middle of the grounds, flying the American flag, is an incredible sight as you enter the grounds. It is a beautiful place to reflect and give thanks to those who have given all for our way of life. The grounds are not expansive, but you could spend hours walking the grounds observing the names.

If you go for a tour of the two houses at linden hill stop in here and check it out. It's in the same area. Beautiful old home. The visitor center is on the main floor and the upstairs is where the senator lived.
