December 11, 2021 Jacquiline Darosa

The museums of Lisbon celebrate the rich history and culture of this Portuguese capital city. The Maritime Museum is perfect for kids (and grown-ups!) who adore all things nautical, while the Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves is a hidden gem of colorful artwork. To fully appreciate the city’s dramatic stone architecture you can take a guided walking tour, or customize your own tour, making sure to visit the Padrao dos Descobrimentos, the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, and the UNESCO World Heritage site the Torre de Belem.

You know that great feeling you get when something you plan goes precisely the way you imagined it?! Well, this was the case. We took a private tour of Lisbon, and it was perfect. Elsa, our tour guide, really went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable, giving us insights about the city, the Portuguese culture, and making sure the tour met our - very high - expectations. She definitely was one of the best tour guides we've ever had (and we've had A LOT all around the world). If you want to have an awesome time in Lisbon, this is the right company. I couldn't recommend "Your friend in Lisbon" more.

We just spent the most amazing day on our tour with Peter! He picked us up from our apartment and, despite the masks and noise on the highway, gave us lots of entertaining information on our drive to Sintra. The drive was beautiful and when we arrived he showed us exactly where to go, Peter left us to leisurely stroll around Sintra and collected us when we were ready. We drove back to Lisbon along the coast and thanks to Peter's recommendation had a delicious lunch. We ended with a really interesting drive around Lisbon, our necks were constantly turning 180 degrees! We learned so much about the history of Portugal and Peter made it so interesting! Cannot recommend this tour enough, thank you so much Peter, it was a great start to our honeymoon!

This is a really amazing walking tour. I would have liked it without kids but it was really special with them. My children are 9, 7, and 3 and the tour guide not only tailored her information towards children, she also had games and scavenger hunts to engage them for the entire three hours. We live in the Lisbon area but had not done a tour of Lisbon until grandparents came to town. We all learned a ton - those of us who live in Portugal and those of us who do not! We elected for the Essential Lisbon tour. I warn you that it is a lot of walking with very little time to sit. My Apple Watch marked over 6 km which is a lot for a three year old but she was a trooper. We had to switch off carrying her in intervals towards the end. I did not bring a stroller. I could have but that would have probably made it harder to push her on bumpy rides over some steep cobbles. Our tour guides were Julia and Mariana and it was a pleasure to spend a morning with them! Cannot recommend this tour enough!
