Limpopo (UK: /lɪmˈpoʊpoʊ/) is the northernmost province of South Africa. It is named after the Limpopo River, which forms the province's western and northern borders. The name "Limpopo" has its etymological origin in the Northern Sotho language word diphororo tša meetse, meaning "strong gushing waterfalls". The capital is Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg).

TLDR; this is a tremendous experience for the adventurous traveler; if you have an open mindset about meeting new people, enjoy hiking and the outdoors, and don't mind an occasionally rough ride, this is an incredible trip and well worth your time. Having never traveled outside the US, I wanted to go big on my first solo trip with the 62-day excursion from Pretoria to Nairobi. Since it was such an extensive trip, I was looking for the most value for my time, based on price, activities, and safety. I backpack often, so beyond basic comfort was not a priority for me, which turned out to be a good mindset to adopt since we camped nearly the entire trip, & rode in a truck with no AC (Namibia gets hot!). Tip - be ready to retrieve the rain fly for your tent during unexpected 3 AM rain showers! However, nearly all of the sites we stayed at had the option to upgrade from camping to comfortable indoor accommodations, which was a nice option to take advantage of occasionally. Once we reached our site for the night, we began our daily rotating duties, which included helping to cook, clean the truck, and do dishes, which I think added to the experience and helped bond our fellow tourists. Traveling solo, I felt safe at all times with our guides, drivers, and locations. My trip was split between two guides, Crispen, then Pete, and they were great company that looked out for us and kept us safe and informed about everything around us. Our guides were familiar with the paths and knew everyone at our destinations. Nothing surprised them. Our drivers were impressive as well, with Harmony and Francis keeping us safe on the often-tumultuous African roads. Navigating both urban and off-road environments in our trucks was no easy task, and Francis even proved his mechanic skills during the occasional break-down. The variety of locations we stayed at were simply incredible. From Cape Town to the deserts of Namibia, the Okavango Delta to Zanzibar Island, the mixture of urban and remote landscapes couldn't have been better. We saw every animal you can imagine. On a trip like this, an open mindset is key. Traveling for two months with strangers can go any number of ways, but due to this trip, I now have lifelong friends scattered across the globe that I can't wait to visit. This wasn't just a vacation, it was a lasting, eye-opening experience that I believe everyone should try if possible. I can't recommend this trip enough. I wish I could go back to January and do it all over again.

Not only was it fun but also educating and i fully enjoyed my time with the incredible services that were offered by the team. Special thanks to Dexter who remained flexible and put so much effort for our tour to be a success! I would definitely recommend all globe trotters to use African Sunsets Travel. Thank you.

I had a really great time on this safari. The guides were really knowledgeable, and I learned a lot. We saw so many animals!! It was a dream come true. The stop at Blyde Canyon on the way back is a nice plus as well. All staff was nice and friendly; great driver Tabo, excellent cook Tiger, and super field guides and bushmen Raymond and Talli. Thank you to Nyarai and Luca as well. I only have a small complaint: even for a "budget" safari, I find it absurd that drinking water it's not included in the meals that were provided. I understand for soft drinks and others but water should be included.

Every country in the world displays some diversity, but South Africa, stretching from the lions in the Kruger National Park to the iconic Table Mountain in the Cape, takes some beating. Enjoy the Country’s sweeping valleys of the Winelands, Cape Town’s jumping nightlife, Namakwa’s springtime symphony of wildflowers or KwaZulu-Natal’s iSimangaliso Wetland Park which alone has five distinct ecosystems, attracting both zebras and dolphins - there is something here for any person with any interest of any age. Although the country has its fair share of problems, South Africans are some of the most upbeat, welcoming and humorous folk you’ll encounter anywhere, from farmers in the rural north who tell you to drive safely on those dirt roads, to Khayelitsha kids who wish you molo (‘good morning’ in Xhosa).

I have to first admit my ignorance to the majesty of South Africa and all it has to offer. The Real South Africa....made sure I left educated, from everything from the countries history to their modern day marvels. Spending the day on safari seeing animals large and small, shopping at Sandton Mall, eating Dinner in the Sky to just relaxing poolside after a massage! Something as simple as the sunrise will take your breath away! Kudos to SA and all it’s people for for uniting as one and turning their country around after the apartheid. Not only did the Real South Africa make my trip spectacular beyond what I could have imagined they made it so carefree and easy for me, literally taking care of all the details, coordination....all I had to do was be ready! I look forward to my next visit! Until then....

We booked the 5 days budget tour with Lloyd and it was the best decision we made during our trip through South Africa. Lloyd is an amazing and very experienced tour guide and overall a very very nice guy!! He knows so much about the nature in Kruger. To all animals and plants he will provide you with tons of very interesting and sometimes funny information. And beside that you can have a great time with him at the campfire on the evenings. No need to say that he also prepares ultra-delicious meals as well. The Africamps accommodation was the base for the daily adventures with Lloyd. The camp is a very nice place on its own. Check the pictures on his webside for more details and make sure you book the Luxury-tent. It is 100% worth the small extra money!! :-) What we liked most about our tour with Lloyd was the fact that he gets still as excited and fascinated as us about the wildlife and plants we spotted, although he saw them already a million times before for sure. I can tell that in this moments we all felt like small children again, enthusiastic about everything we explore in Kruger and having the time of our life. Another cool thing was the bush-walk with Lloyd. It was a total different experience than in the Safari vehicle. But with him we felt perfectly fine and save. We can not recommend his tours high enough. For us it was THE HIGHLIGHT!! of our South Africa trip. Book with him and you will have a great time and memories for a lifetime. Thank you so much Lloyd for everything!!
