Probably one of those places everybody should visit. A small town devastated by evil on the 10th June 1944. The information centre you pass through to get to the village is very informative.

Located in the former 11th century Benedictine abbey in the heart of the historic center of Meymac, the Museum offers a fascinating introduction to the history of Haute-Correze and its inhabitants, from the most remote times to the present day. On three levels, discover this territory admiring in particular: Paleolithic and Neolithic tools (bifaces, polished axes), funerary furniture (Gallo-Roman funerary chests), a space dedicated to the Roman site of the Cars, and also testimonies of the life local rural from the mid-nineteenth to the end of the twentieth century (tools, musical instruments, furniture, clothing ...). The museum offers a temporary exhibition each year that highlights a period or theme, which involves a scenographic change. This collection was collected by Marius Vazeilles (1881 - 1973) who worked on improving the human condition on the Millevaches Plateau. He was a forester, archaeologist and political activist as a member of the Popular Front.

A permanent and temporary expéditions both of great interest. Modern building with helpful staff and free entry.
