One of the most beautiful commercial caves in the eastern U.S. Self-guided walking tours take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. All day Wild Cave Tours are available, for the more adventurous, by reservation only. Largest Rock, Fossil, & Gift Shop in the area. Natural History Museum features local ice age mammals as well as dinosaur exhibits. Picnic Area. Free Parking. Open Daily.

PROS: affordable with AAA discount; tour at your own pace; beautiful cave formations ; an easy 45 min stop at least; affordable and diverse gift shop; small free exhibits with mostly casts of different dinos.
CONS: people with disabilities can’t do it as it has plenty of slippery, steep stairs. Can be crowded as you are self guided so may be trouble with family pics. That long dirt road can have you worrying about damaging your tires or losing air.

PROS: beside the Confederate cemetery, Old Presbyterian Church and Carnegie building so you can hit them all in one sitting. I could see carriages from the outside the mansion looks interesting.
CONS:I guess since its free admission, the hours can fluctuate instantly. We arrived 1:45 pm but a sign said last tour was 315 pm and it was supposed to close 4 pm. A paper sign taped to the door said they closed at 1:30 pm that day we went. Limited parking spots, there were only 3 parking spots that had “museum visitors “ on it and others had cosmetology clients so I guess the rest of the parking areas you see in are for the college located beside it?

Located in downtown Lewisburg, only 5 minutes from Interstate 64, the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center serves as an information headquarters. A variety of brochures are available featuring all sorts of things to do throughout Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe and Summers counties, as well as other popular interests across West Virginia. This regional center is open 362 days annually. The entire center and 70-seat Rahall Conference Room are available for rent to businesses and organizations.

The lady that helped us here was extremely helpful and kind. She greeted us when we walked in and helped give us ideas of where to visit and eat while here in Lewisburg. The facility is very clean, modern, and nice.So glad our staff was able to assist you. We think our team is pretty amazing; nice to read you think so, too.

My husband loves Charles Dickens Christmas Carol so I purchased tickets and made a short weekend getaway for us to Lewisburg. While the set area and seating are very small, everything was very efficient and clean. We were surprised at the amount of cast in the production. For small town theater this group does it top of the line!

Carnegie Hall was built in 1902 with funds donated by steel baron and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie Hall, Inc. was established in 1983 as a regional, not-for-profit arts and education center to serve Southern West Virginia. The historic, Greek-revival structure houses an auditorium, studios for painting, weaving, pottery and dance; three art galleries; kitchen; administrative offices; and several other rooms used for meeting spaces, classrooms, lectures, receptions, and gatherings of all kinds.

Carnegie Hall was built in 1902 by steel baron and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie as a classroom building for the Lewisburg Female Institute, later the Greenbrier College for Women. Carnegie was friends with the college president and it is 1 of only 4 Carnegie Halls in the world.
Looking from Academy Park you see the Ivy Terrace and the beautiful while columns that give the property such a stately look.Inside there is the intimate theatre with dark green iron design seating for 388 with a total capacity of just 420.There are a few poles in the theatre that really don't obstruct your concert view that much and there is a great small balcony upstairs.
There is an art gallery on the bottom floor,dance studios,classrooms,exhibit space etc. and much of the hall can be rented for events.It was stated that annually over 75,000 people enjoy this facility.Lewisburg is fortunate to have this gem.

We were running out of daylight on this visit, a beautiful stone (old) Church building and an interesting Cemetery alongside. The Church dates from 1796 and is built of local limestone & the Cemetery a year later. The graves vary from early settlers , trappers, slaves, merchants, ex-pastors, confederate & union troops. Lewisburg was Confederate but fought over and occupied by the Union on several occasions. So both parties figure prominently. Very interesting Church & surrounds.

The Confederate Cemetery of Lewisburg contains the remains of 95 unknown Confederate dead mostly from the Battle of Lewisburg.It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is located on a hillside on the edge of town.While driving some of the side roads on the outskirts of town we happened to pass a small sign directing up a small lane to the sight Enclosed by a wrought iron gate there is raised earthen cross 80 feet in length with the crossing arm 53 feet long.There is a plaque that gives you an overview of how this came to be starting in 1862.

The Brick House Antique Shop was built in 1815 and is located in the center of town.The 2 floors and many rooms are loaded with glassware,jewelry,china pictures,furniture and just about everything thing else you expect to see in an antique shop.

Robert's Antiques & Wine Shop in located right in the center of the downtown historic district and is really 3 shops in 1 10,000 square foot building.
As you walk in you are immediately surprised and drawn to the right to see a gourmet foods area with specialty foods such as oils,vinegars,cheeses,pates etc.only to see behind that an extensive specialty wine and beer shop.It is stated they have one of the largest wine selections in the state with over 600 labels.
Then there is the antique shop with period furniture,some dating to the 18th century,glassware,porcelan and oriental rugs.Impressive shop.Even saw some very large wooden bars.Worth a stop.

The Lewisburg Farmers Market is located in the middle of town in the parking lot between the Post Office and the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.It was only a block away from where we were staying at the General Lewis Inn.It runs from 8:30-1:00 April thru November. The market offers fresh locally grown and raised or made products directly from the farmers.We saw eggs,honey,herbs,poultry,beef,lamb,fruits and organic vegetables.Aiso bakery items,herbs,woodworking as well as a Persian food tent.
