Leningrad Oblast (Russian: Ленингра́дская о́бласть, tr. Leningradskaya oblast’, IPA: [lʲɪnʲɪnˈgratskəjə ˈobləsʲtʲ]) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It was established on August 1, 1927, although it was not until 1946 that the oblast's borders had been mostly settled in their present position. The oblast was named after the city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Unlike the city, the oblast retains the name of Leningrad.

Each of the 42 islands on which St. Pereburgh is located has its own history and its secret. But two of them are related. Two terrible prisons, leading their history from the foundation of the city and to the October coup. Each island is unique, because it has not been destroyed. We will visit them today. The prison of the Peter and Paul Fortress and the prison of Shlisselburg, to which you will have to sail on a boat.

Visit the places which had witnessed the harassing siege of Leningrad during World War II. It was one of 3 humanitarian catastrophies in the Mankind Warfare history (destruction of Jews and Armenians are among them) with still unknown number of victims. We are going to visit some of the memorial sites (Flower of Life, piece of authentic road, the Baltic Wings, the Broken Ring on the shore of Ladoga Lake etc.) located along the Road of Life - the only city supporting route to starving Leningrad through the Ladoga Lake connected the besieged city with the rest of Soviet Union, the Road of Life Museum with the considerable collection of weapon, relics and Diorama reviving the events of the final breakthrough operation of 1943. Also we would be attending the infernal place, Nevsky Bridgehead, where the duration of a warrier's life didn't exceed 1 day only. During the tour there will be the possibility of getting lunch in the provincial town Kirovsk.

We booked for the Swan Lake ballet on 25 December 2019, with travel date on 24 May 2020, through U Visit Russia. . Due to the Covit19 pandemic we were unable to visit Russia nor attend the ballet. Two tickets were purchased for US$465.50. U Visit Russia was advised of not being able to attend and agreed to pay a full refund but there would be a delay due to the number of cancellations. After some time no refund was forthcoming and U Visit Russia was again contacted by email and we were advised that due to the volume of cancellations the refund would be credited to our credit card within 9 weeks. Nothing and again they were contacted by email but no response was ever received. No refund was ever received. Nothing!! The lesson is to beware of ever dealing with this company.
