Leland is a city in Washington County, Mississippi, in the Mississippi Delta. The population was 4,790 at the 2008 census. It was long a center of cotton culture, which is still an important commodity crop in the rural area.

This small, volunteer run museum celebrates Jim Henson and Kermit. Jim spent the first 12 years of his life in Leland and they talk about the impact it had on him. The exhibits are mainly donations of Kermit (and Miss Piggy) related items...books, toys, figures, etc. It is the celebratio aspect that makes this special. They have a large Kermit sitting on a loveseat, ready for photos. the woman staffing it the day we visited was absolutely delightful and gave us a taste of Delta life.

We were at this rather small museum in Leland, Mississippi in late February. There is a small charge for admission, and they are closed on Sundays.
The museum is part of the historic Delta Blues area where so many great artists came of age and so much blues was written.
There are storyboards, artifacts, and pictures of local blues musicians and donations from some of the greats.
If you are there at an opportune time, you will get to hear Pat Thomas play his guitars and tell stories about the area and the blues. He is the son of James “Son” Thomas who was one of the greats in this area. This is a very unique and “real” experience which can be enjoyed by all! If Pat is not there, ask the manager if he can call him to come play. They are very accommodating.
There is no gift shop, but there are several items and posters for sale.

I've visited A Southern Bazaar a few times and I always find something in here that I cant leave without. Its a really cute shop with a lot of different vendors offering different things from vintage finds, antiques, candles- good for gifts or a memento to take home! The staff are friendly and there is plenty of parking.
Oh! The location on Google Maps is incorrect, double check before you drive to Leland High School on accident!

Was in the banquet hall on May 16 2015. The parking was good and the room was well maintained. Rather small convention center but probably very adequate for the City of Greenville Mississippi.
