Visited when staying at the Camping and Caravanning site at Blackshaw Moor near Leek. It was a superb 10 mile round trip hike from the campsite, across country via Lower Blackshaw Farm and Whitty Lane up to Hen Cloud. From there its an excellent north west trek following the Roaches ridge past Doxy Pool to the Trig point before turning back. Superb views of Tittesworth Reservoir. Plenty of places to stop for a picnic with a view. There is limited roadside parking that runs below the Roaches albeit it gets full very quickly. It is worth noting that it is not a bad walk from the reservoir Visitor Centre where there is ample parking, toilets etc.

Situated just up Ashbourne Road and well worth the less than 5 minute walk from Leek town centre. A seemingly permanent fixture in the Good Beer Guide and justifiably so. Excellent range of beers, a warm and friendly welcome, and a very pleasant pub interior with a great atmosphere. Very well done to the guys that own/run this place.

UK's Premier Trials School - Fun, thrilling and challenging trial bike training in the beautiful Peak District. Experience Days, Corporate Days 1to1 Training with professional tuition. Bikes, kit and refreshments provided. No motorcycle licence required.
Stu and team run a fantastic setup. The bikes are in tip-top condition, more snacks than you ever need and a really great, tasty, hot lunch. We learned so much from the team’s excellent instruction. At the start of the day, Stu said we’d be doing stuff by the end of the day that, at the start, we wouldn’t have thought possible; he was right and it’s all down to the team’s excellent tuition. If you can cope with a bit of banter being thrown at you, you’ll have an amazing day where you (personally speaking!) come away knackered but with a massive grin.

Our trains give a scenic 3 mile return trip along the side of Rudyard Lake. This is the best way to see the beautiful lake and get to its attractions. The lake is where poet Rudyard Kipling's parents met at a picnic and named their child after the spot. Its an unspoilt place great for a family day out or picnic. The railway runs special event days throughout the year, see the website for details.

We're actually from the West Midlands, and sometimes forget that our area used to be in Staffordshire (even though we pay South Staffs for our Water!), so it came as a surprise to see our local places such as West Bromwich and Smethwick getting a mention in the tapestry display, which is an excellent way of showing the history of the county. It also helps that it's in a very nice building, giving an even better atmosphere. And if that isn't enough - it's free entry!
