My daughter and I love stones, minerals, crystals, etc. We were SOOO excited to find this little shop on the main drag in Leadville. They have an impressive fossil collection and stones, gems and crystals from all over the world. Extensive offering of books and guides as well. Interesting place to spend some time if in Leadville. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff too!

We are open for business seven days a week. Face masks and social distancing are required of all visitors.
Great way to spend several hours when taking a break from skiing, but even on a warm day we would give it a 5. The interactive displays, the history, the mineral collections and the personal histories are wonderful, while teaching so much. There is enough variety of visual display that all ages will enjoy. There are several areas specifically designed for children.

So glad to see them working to preserve this building. The Tabors were a huge part of Leadville history back in it's boom days (1870ish). Population soared to 30000, and it was ALMOST the capital of Colorado! The area is rich in history and so is the Opera House. Houdini, Oscar WIlde, John Phillip Sousa and Jack Dempsey are among those who performed/fought/disappeared on stage here. Incredible. Restoration has begun and it's a huge project.

A restored, 1880s frontier synagogue in historic Leadville. The only building of its kind west of the Mississippi, it now houses a museum dedicated to the Jewish pioneers of a booming mining city. Come visit Temple Israel to learn more about a vibrant community that supported an active civic and social world whilst satisfying the city's commercial needs.
Don't miss! Had visited years ago, and had some people staying with me from back East who were interested in history. So, I took them to Leadville. Called in advance to be sure they would be open, and as luck would have it, got Mr. Korn to show us around. He is the one you want to have give you a tour; he is a font of knowledge about Leadville, the building, the reconstruction of the building, the historic cemetery, and more. This is worth a stop if you are anywhere nearby, or worth a little day trip if you are in Eagle or Summit County for a visit. Be sure to go by the nearby historic cemetery if weather permits.

Built in 1878, the Healy House looks out over historic and scenic treasures of the storied mining town of Leadville. The grounds also include a historic garden with gazebo, and the historic Dexter Cabin built in 1879. The Healy House and Dexter Cabin is a museum of History Colorado.
Our guide was great . We loved the tour. It’s well worth the time. If your in Leadville you will get a bit of history.

Denver/Colorado, as a matter of fact has lots to offer to a traveler. Be it a 2 day relaxation tour or an activity filled week you will always find something famous in this beautiful state. We on the other hand decided to visit some not so famous place to experience the local culture and Leadville came first into our searchlist. Quaint is the word that will come to ur mind as u stepped in to the doorway of the town for the first time. it doesn't matter you stay in any hotels or any vacation rentals, everyplace is more or less equally accessible to you. Though I will prefer to choose the vacation rentals on the road next to the safeway that will welcome you while entering the town. There's a big lake down that same road (sorry I forgot the name) but it's a beautiful place and probably you can do fishing too(we haven't tried). What to do in the tow ? Well you can do skiing, fishing, lots of place to roam around (Denver and Aspen both are within 2 hrs of drive) or just relax. We did bit of all. We were there for 2 nights 3 days. We spend 1.5 days on travelling to Aspen/Maroon Bells and the other day in Leadville itself, driving down the 6th street or strolling by the lake or visiting probably the most happening place in the town - 'The Manhattan Bar'. As you entered the Bar you will see few faces already lightened up seeing you. The people inside the bar, along with the bar-tender (who is a beautiful but relatively serious lady) are probably the most friendly ppl in this part of the world. In no time you will start chatting with them like you know them for the last 15 years and eventually end up with an invitation from some lovely couple to have a night-long party in their home, or with some random gentleman who will try to make you realize why small town like Leadville is far more beautiful than the big cities like Denver, or you will be seriously busy in a pool game with a father-son duo, or atleast you will take part in a beer drinking competition and then in a dart throwing competition. The price of the bar is very reasonable and in majority time you have to stop someone to pay on behalf of you :) . They say that, a place is as beautiful as it's people are. Leadville is an awesome place with wonderful people. I have visited it twice(March 2016/April 2017) and given a chance I will visit it again. If you want to soak in pure nature and human emotion then plz do visit Leadville and Manhattan bar. Just find time and let yourself go.....

I always enjoy stopping and finding a hidden gem in this huge warehouse full of antiques. Two floors filled with something for everyone. Just the large floor to ceiling wall of small drawers will take you back in time when the shopkeeper knew everyone and where everything was stored. A fun place to visit and maybe you will find that hidden treasurer too.
