A great place to relax after dinner for wine or liquor. Mango martini is my favorite and hubby’s is the espresso martini. Tuesday we had the burger basket grilled outside the bar. Juicy and tasty. Small plates other nights. Hubby tells me the coffee is fantastic.

LeClaire, Iowa. It's a special place. A place where life on the land is intimately married to the flow of the waters. For centuries, people here have looked to the water for a sense of calm, a spirit of enjoyment and a connection to a heritage that is uniquely their own. That marriage of land and water is now embodied in a different kind of spirit. The Mississippi River Distilling Company hand craft Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, and Specialty Spirits slow and pure near the banks of the Mississippi River. Born from the finest grains, harvested just up the hill from the distillery. It’s a spirit born of land and water that draws each of us curiously back to a different era. Made for you, not for for the masses.

Visit the the most popular local winery's tasting room and courtyard in historic downtown Le Claire. From dry and aged to sweet and fun, we offer wines for every taste. The outdoor dining menu is delicious inspiration comes from the wine-maker's garden.
My sister and I stopped here while our husbands stayed at a nearby bar to watch a baseball game. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wines, was very engaging in conversation and generous with the samples. We received a very nice wine glass included with our tasting, it was even a clean one already wrapped up for us to take home (not the one we used for tasting). Prices were reasonable. Would definitely stop by again if we were in the area.

The cream filled chocolates actually taste like their given names. Orange tastes like orange, raspberry like raspberry, and etc. The walnut milk chocolate fudge is heavenly and so is the caramel. The clerks were very kind and helpful.

Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium was founded in 2009 in the heart of the historic downtown area of Le Claire, Iowa. Donna Walley, the owner, wanted to create a place where women could bring their friends to shop, laugh and find unique items most other stores don’t carry. She also convinced her husband, Wayne, to part with some of his extensive collection of vintage beer signs and barware, so that “guys would have something to look at in the store.” The combination of humorous magnets and greeting cards, reproduction tin signs, pop culture items, vintage collectibles, newer collector items, retro candy and toys, the “naughty box” for adults, “gum with attitude” and “guy stuff” struck a nerve with shoppers as Aunt Hattie’s Fanciful Emporium was voted the “Best Gift Shop” in the Quad Cities in the Quad City Times Reader’s Poll in 2012 and 2013.

It’s worth the trip to see the view from the huge house of the river. The house was built in 1870. It is beautiful inside. The store has a variety of antiques and small items to buy. It has a large selection of wines in n the basement. Lady at front desk was very nice and gave us lots of tips on places to see.

We found this place walking around downtown LeClaire. It is really cute and has both inside and outside seating overlooking the river. I ordered a pint of "Buffalo Spit" beer and it was very tasty and went down smooth. The most exciting time was a visit to the men's room to admire the plumbing fixture. I had to take a photo.
