Lovely monastery with well kept gardens and beautiful church. There is a place where you can take therapeutic mud home with you ( so take a spoon and plastic tupper with you) as Agia Thekla is the patroness of skin diseases. By buying items at the small souvenir shop you will help with the keeping expenses of the place. I highly recommend the home made mosfilo jam by the nuns which makes a very special- if not unique gift to take back home if you're a tourist( Mosfilo is a kind of hawthorn tree with yellow berries called mosfila & only grows in a handful of countries, Cyprus being one of them)

Since I have spent my entire life in Cyprus, I have a deep love and intimate knowledge of this country that I want to share with everyone who visits. I want you to experience more than just the architecture and geography of this beautiful island. I want you to touch the ancient stones of the Salamis ruins, inhale the aroma of the night-time jasmine near Nicosia and taste the home-cooked meze at my favourite taverna near Lefkara. My tours are designed to bring together all your senses so that your time in Cyprus will be etched in your memory forever. I pride myself on my knowledge of the island since I experienced it first hand in growing up here, then studied history, art, culture, mythology, geography and religion at the School of Tour Guides and University of Cyprus where I trained to be a tour guide. I learned about archaeology from individuals who excavated Cyprus, studied handicrafts with local artists and talked with researchers of medieval clothing - all of whom passed on a wealth of first hand knowledge about this country. I've been a tour guide in Cyprus since 1996 and have also worked as a radio announcer and talk show host, hotel front desk manager and manager of a wine boutique. I speak fluent English, Swedish and Greek (with some knowledge of Norwegian) and am happiest when I'm putting together personalized tours that will incorporate all you want to know, see and do in this country. My intent is to take you where Cypriots go. Eat what Cypriots eat. Learn about Cypriot culture and spend time with Cypriot people. See you soon, at my tours. Warmest regards, Marios Georgiou, MBA
