Met this lovely man, named Nathan, on a trip from Laguna, Lang co, to Hoi An. His van is spotless and very comfortable but most importantly he is such a funny, friendly person! It was super easy to communicate our needs and he’s got us from A to B in no time. I highly recommend!

Riding through "Hài Vân Pass" and its winding roads, sudden curves and blind corners can be quite a thrill! On National Route 1, the 21 km long mountain pass crosses over the Truong Son Range and juts into South China Sea, overlooking Son Tra Island. It used be the border, during centuries, between the ancient kingdoms of "Dai Viêt" and "Champa". At the top of "Hài Vân Pass", Emperor Minh Mang built, in the 19th century, an outstanding brick gate, which is surrounded by scattered bunkers dating from the first Indochina War (or the French War, as called by the Vietnamese). These bunkers were later used by the American forces during the Vietnam War (or the American War). A quick stop, a few pictures and back to this thrilling road through awesome "Hài Vân Pass"! Enjoy!

We happened upon this place due to a local guide. We'd intended to just visit Lăng Co beach but, in the end, we preferred the lagoon more. Try to visit at sunset as it's absolutely magical. We ate at the Lagoon Cafeteria (reviewed elsewhere) which I'd highly recommend as an authentic experience or just buy some fresh oysters and bbq them. Wonderful too. I'd return in a heartbeat and it will always live in my memory.
