In 2017 I solo hiked in Tiger Creek Preserve that left an impression i have been wanting to share with my wife ever since. A trip to Babson Park was planned. We parked at the Pfundsteintein road parking lot, and picked up a trail map. The hike started by heading out to the Highlands loop, then to the bluff creeks loop, back to the Highlands loop, and walked the Heron pond loop on the way back. In total it ended up being 11.5 miles and a little over 4 hours. The area has grown up since I was here last, with less signs of the previous prescribed burn event. The trails are in better shape and more defined, with more blazes and trail posts along the routes. This is a sandy sunny hike up and down hills with lots of twists and turns on the Lake Wales Ridge, an ancient island. I didn't find the sand real deep or troublesome, but was happy I brought water. There are many different landscapes like open pine woods, scrubby flat woods, hardwood swamps, and forested wetlands. There are no restrooms but admission is free.

Finding the ruins of this shrine is a fun adventure. It is 6 miles from Lake Wales, and Google can give you directions to it. The bridge and shrine at the edge of St. Anne's Lake are easy to spot. To find the altar, look for a white cross about 3 feet high on the south side of the road and follow the path into the woods about 25 yards. The steps of the church, now dismantled and removed are also evident, but there are other stone ruins here and there if you walk around the area. A walk around the lake is about 1 mile.

We walk this lake several times a week. Nice paved path along a beautiful lake. We see birds and turtles. The only problem is a few dog owners let their dogs off leash. They are a far distance from owners, and also noticed they don’t pick up after their dog So just be ready for the possibility of dogs running free
