On the south side of the Alps, Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy. Since the climate is mild year-round, the area is filled with Mediterranean vegetation and exotic plants. Lake Maggiore was featured in Ernest Hemingway's infamous novel, A Farewell to Arms, when the protagonist and his lover must row across the lake in order to escape the Italian Carabinieri (think police in military uniforms). Here's hoping you won't have any run-ins of that nature.

It is a unmissable spot when you visit Arona. It is one of my favourite place and the location is amazing. During the years the ruins of the castle have been restored and now they are the perfect background to this park. The view is simply amazing....no doubts that it is the best view of the Lake Maggiore

Alpyland is located at the peak of Mottarone and consists of a 1.200 meters long rail track, which boasts a 360 ° view of Alps, the surrounding lands and seven lakes. Similar to a roller coaster, the run develops with curves, bumps, changes of slope and a height difference of 100 meters. The two-seat bobsleighs are equipped with a manual braking system which the passenger can use to adjust the speed to his liking and a selective braking system that slows down all bobs at the end of the descent. Open both in summer and winter, Alpyland is fun for everyone, at any age!
We were a group of 8, aged 9 to 50 and we all loved it. The views are breathtaking, we all had the urge to belt out a bit of julie Andrew's the hills are alive;) The alpine slide is brilliant fun, definitely have at least 2 Go's each.We used a groupon 40% off voucher so great value for money, and a fantastic day out. Recommend a 100% for a afternoon out.

In this beautiful churchyard you can see the Church of Saints Gervaso and Protasio, the Baptistery of Saint John, the Portico of the Way of the Cross and the Granum Museum. A jump into the passed years .
