Open daily, 10am to 5pm, June to September. Open during the winter by appointment. Admission: $13 for adults, $9 for children. The Hard Tack Mine brings the unique history of mining to life. Join us for underground mine tours, exhibits packed with mining history and machinery and a fantastic underground gift shop brimming with treasures. You can also pick up last minute supplies at the Company Store located just outside the mine porthole. The mine is located on the Alpine Loop National Back Country Byway, near the Hidden Treasure mill site and the ghost town of Treasure City.It is a constant 45 degrees in the mine, so a light jacket is recommended. Tours are handicap accessible and state inspected. Group tours are available year round by appointment.

The staff here is really helpful. The man running it the day we were there gave us lots of tips on where to see wildflowers, miniing history, waterfalls and more and marked it on a map.
