Cairdeas Winery

Reviewed By HGun - Fultondale, United States

Cairdeas is in a comfortable setting, we sat outside while the servers brought us our tastings. It was lovely and comfortable. Both my husband and I ranked as our #1 Winery of the trip (especially the reds) It wasn't cheap since we purchased a couple of bottles, and there was no discount for tastings when you purchase unlike most wineries, but we will enjoy the wine so just a small complaint.

Lake Chelan

This scenic lake is best known for its sunbathing, water sports and fishing.

Reviewed By JenniL698 - Melbourne, Australia

We just had three relaxing days in Chelan Washington and I would highly recommend it if you are in the area or doing a road trip. The weather (late August) was just perfect and the lake was vast and beautifully clear. The townships of Chelan and Manson are well kept, quaint and picturesque and they have everything you need. The wineries in the area are an added bonus! We will certainly be back.

Rainbow Falls

A beautiful waterfall in the Stehekin area.

Reviewed By JeanneA284 - Tucson, United States

We went to Stehekin for the 9th time and found it to be just as amazing and exciting as the first time we went. To get to Stehekin you can take a float plane or the passinger boat that will pick you up at Fields Landing, big all your equipment and baggage and deliver you and your luggage to the end of the lake. There is a hotel at the landing with rooms and studios. There is a little store, dining room, bikes to rent and an old bus that can take you to the fresh daily bakery that serves up amazing baked goods all day. You can also take the bus from the landing to Courtney Country. The Courtney family has been in Stehekin for many, many years. There are cabins to rent and a huge barn that is set up as a restaurant. As you enter the restaurant, you are given a plate and told to take all the food you want and come back for more. The food is great the cakes, cookies, etc come from the bakery fresh every day. Don't forget to put in hiking great, bathing suits, boots, etc as there are plenty of hills and mountains to climb. Take a peak at Rainbow Falls that ascents from the top of a mountain into a raging river. You will never forget this trip and you will want to go back.

Stehekin Landing

Site of two self-guided nature hikes through spectacular woodland.

Reviewed By Broderipii - Shrewsbury, United States

When we started planning our trip to the Northwest two years ago, neither of us had heard of Stehekin. Once we learned of the town, however, it immediately went on our itinerary. Stehekin may be reached either by boat or by foot. Some literature includes access by seaplane, but it doesn’t appear as if seaplanes are currently operating on Lake Chelan. We rode the slow boat to Stehekin and returned via the express the following day. This meant we had approximately 24 hours in the community. We enjoyed almost every minute of those hours. Upon arrival we took the red bus tour to Rainbow Falls and the Stehekin Pastry Company. The park ranger also explained about some of the other features in the area. It was a good introduction to the Stehekin Valley, but it did feel somewhat rushed. We visited the National Park Visitor Center and spent some time viewing the exhibits. The center also has a few gift items for sale. The remainder of the afternoon was spent relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. After dinner, we walked along the lakeshore and watched the evening fall upon the mountains. In the morning we ate breakfast at the lodge. If there was one disappointment during our stay, it was the amount of time it took for meals. Service at the restaurant was very slow – especially for breakfast. If we had to do it over, I think we would have just picked up a snack at the general store and skipped the 45 minutes we spent at breakfast. We rented a Polaris Ranger for an hour which gave us the opportunity to explore further up the valley than we had the previous day on the bus. Bicycle rentals are also available. Afterward, Mrs B visited The House that Jack Built which sells goods crafted by local artisans. She was largely able to complete her Christmas shopping with this one stop. Soon thereafter it was time to board the boat for the trip down lake. Here are a few items that may be of interest. A trip to Stehekin, because of its isolation, is not inexpensive. Lodging and food costs are higher than normal and the cost of the boat ride to and from Stehekin must also be factored in. However, the experience is unique, so we deemed it worthy of expanding our budget when we planned our trip. We were glad that we did. I would recommend spending at least one night in Stehekin so that one can experience more of what this place offers. The evening along the lakefront was one of the best memories from the stay and it would have been missed if we had been day-trippers. If at all possible, try to take some time to talk with one the employees or residents of the valley. I was fortunate enough to speak with the lodge manager for over ten minutes and learned far more about Stehekin than I could have by any other method. Finally, although there are plenty of reminders of modern life in Stehekin, there are also many reminders of a time gone by – far more than are usually found elsewhere. Their presence offers a welcome invitation to kick back and relax in this beautiful setting.

Went wine tasting 1 year ago in Leavenworth. July 2019 with 2 of my friends. Ended up there a month later with seven of my friends. We came back the following July 2020 with three different friends and ended up becoming wine club members. Love the story of the winery. My favorite is the shameless hussy white and rose. Ended up getting' cute night shirts. No bad for a bunch of 50 year old high school friends
