Labuan /ləˈbuːən/ (Jawi: لابوان), officially the Federal Territory of Labuan (Malay: Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan, Jawi: ولايه ڤرسكوتوان لابوان), is a federal territory of Malaysia. It is made up of the eponymous Labuan Island and six smaller islands, and is located off the coast of the state of Sabah in East Malaysia. Labuan's capital is Victoria and is best known as an offshore financial centre offering international financial and business services via Labuan IBFC since 1990 as well as being an offshore support hub for deepwater oil and gas activities in the region. It is also a tourist destination for people travelling through Sabah, nearby Bruneians and scuba divers. The name Labuan derives from the Malay word labuhan which means harbour. Labuan is often referred to as the pearl of Borneo.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery which contains a total number of 3,900 burials. The cemetery lies on the Jalan Tanjong Batu road which leads from the airport to the town. It is less than a kilometre from the airport and about 3 kilometres from the Island's town; Victoria. Within the Cemetery will be found the Labuan Memorial and the Labuan Cremation Memorial.
This memorial to those who died in WW2 is very well maintained and the cemetery is quiet and peaceful. The Remembrance Day ceremonies are held here every year. The staff who maintain the memorial park are to be commended. Also thanks to the Malaysian government and the Malaysian Armed services for their help. A special thanks to the U.K. war graves commission for their support.

I have travelled to Labuan 4 times over the last 7 years and this visit to Surrender Point was very disappointing. Whether it has been vandalised or just in need of urgent repairs the monument has been neglected. The peace park which is maintained by the Japanese Government was it's usual neat self. This is the spot where in September 1945 the surrender took place and how about the Australian Government preserving this monument in a proper manner.

Peace Park located on the west coast of Labuan, on Layang-Layangan Beach, was constructed by the Japanese Govt in 1972 as a memorial to all those who died during WWII, both civilians and military. Yes the Japanese were truly barbaric during the war, but by all accounts their own soldiers were treated terribly. Not making excuses for anyone, but maybe we should emphasize more on the "never again" aspect of these peace memorials, as opposed to continued recriminations to those who had acted terribly 75-80 years ago. This place has a strong sense of Peace and Harmony, highly recommended. The memorial itself is a large mound with arched walls and an inscription to peace in English, Malay and Japanese. The surrounding gardens are of Japanese design with ornamental lakes, gazebos and bridges. The plants, trees and flowers were wonderful and the whole place meticulously maintained. Next to the Peace Memorial is the Surrender Point Memorial where the Japanese Army of North Borneo unconditionally surrendered to the Allies in 1945. The Peace Park is located about 8 km from Labuan main town. There is no entry fee and has ample parking and toilet facilities.

Chimney Labuan is a historical place to visit. There is a museum where you could view the details and activities related to the Chimney. The environment there is tranquil and there is a beautiful garden along the path to the Chimney. A great place to spend with your friends and family while enjoying the beauty of the nature
