We were very fortunate as we spent 5 weeks (Nov/Dec) in the Riu Place Tres Islas, which is situated in the centre of Grandes Playas, the Dunas of Corralejo and the Natural Park. The impressive Grandes Playas de Corralejo spreads along the coast for almost 3 and a half kilometres and an average width of 60 metres. They sit within the 10 kilometres of beaches that sprawl from Corralejo to Parque Holandes. The main two beaches Playa el Viejo Playa Bajo Negro, are on either side of the hotel. They are the only 2 beaches that provided sunbeds and umbrellas for rent at €9 for 2 sun beds and an umbrella. There are volleyball nets on both beaches and a beach bar on El Viejo. Don't want to use the sunbeds then there is plenty of space to spread out towels on the golden sand. Smaller beaches also formed part of the Grandes Playas, there are no facilities on these beaches. Dotted along the beaches are man made stone circular walls, known as corralitos, which provide shelter from the winds that swirls around the beaches. The crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean wash the the shores. During our stay we did spent a number of days on the smaller beaches. We also walked along the beaches in both directions from the hotel. A walk along the beaches to Corralejo is a highlight. The smaller beaches are popular with naturists. The Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo, which includes the Grandes, was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in May 2009. There is plenty of car parking along the roadside.

Amazing sand dunes... tranquil perfection... either choose sun beds or walk a little further to you own piece of heaven ... windbreaker / umbrella needed if sitting on towels and sand ... a cheeky little beach bar ...but better to take a picnic. Coast guards run the coast line ... if you are on a part with no station they still come over in beach buggies every so often. Blue flag amazing sands, sea and crashing waves good for dipping in a toe, wind surfing, kite surfing or surfing. It is a vast area so you can easily find a secluded spot. Get taxi/ bus to the two Rui hotels, turn right on beach and keep walking. Great day of sun and relaxation.

We just got back from the island totally thrilled. Just 10 min by water taxi and you land on the little volcanic paradise that has stunning views from the montaña de caldera, relaxing sandy beach and hiking routes through the stunning volcanic landscape mixed with dunes that end up on the lighthouse. Even though it was a windy January day we could fully enjoy the island and it’s beauty. Though snorkelling was not possible due to cold weather and rough ocean. Very much recommended if you want to escape touristy parts of main island.

Beautiful lagoons with crystal clear water and amazing, sandy beaches one end, great for kids. Walk along towards the lighthouse and it gets much more rugged and very rocky, making it a little more difficult getting into the water. Lovely walk from main beach to the lighthouse.

This volcano crater is near the village of Lajares. Is’s not a difficult climb and it worth every step you take to get to the top. At half way to the top you can see a range of three volcanos. When you reach the top you can see the 70 meters crater of the volcano and you can walk round it or just sit and enjoy the view and the wind on your face. While walking around, you will meet some cheerful squirrels which will no doubt to come close to you just in case you have some food or water for them. Don’t forget to apply sun cream and a cap would also be handy.

Finca Canarias is located in La Oliva, Fuerteventura, in the Natural Park of Volcán de La Arena. The surrounding landscape of the farming is notable for its volcanic uniqueness, integrated in a malpais natural park of more than 90.000 square metres large, considered a protected landform for its geological value. In addition, in the area you can find several volcanic caves of touristic interest as the Cueva de Los Picos, the Cueva del Diablo o the Cueva de las Burras. The farm is 100.000 square metres large and has 6.000 aloe vera plants and provides other services besides the shop and the guided tours as massage treatments, Reflex therapy and other Beauty and Health treatments with the natural aloe vera as the base. This is also the only centre in Fuerteventura that provides aloetherapy.
Wonderful products - instant relief for my terrible sunburn. Shop is very clean and staff very friendly.

a particular beach that has some "grains" of sand that remind us of the tasty popcorn. It is located near the town of Corralejo on the island of Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands. In reality those white beans, are coral fragments of different sizes, which have taken on this singular shape, thanks to the erosion of natural elements.
I was concerned about the road condition reading the previous posts... I decided to walk out before we have our rental car and I bring my family. More on the road below: Excellent experience!!!! The contrast with the enormous waves crashing off the coastline and the white broken coral- popcorn beach is a must do especially with family’s Lots has been written on the tide pools and sea life for children to look at. There was a few pieces of fresh broken glass so be sure to wear shoes. But I have seen more on most sand beaches (seems to be common- fresh broken glass). Some sea glass also sparkles in the white coral pieces. No services Bring your water, a hat (no trees or shade) Can have wind - so bring a scarf, or light long sleeve shirt for comfort Sunglasses for sure as the sun makes the white coral quite bright. Definitely unsafe for swimming- but the beauty of watching the crashing waves is stunning The road: is hard packed, and there are some small washboard bumps (I am from Canada and logging roads often have very large bumps and washboards). I think the road is in terrific condition and is hard-packed; but if you are used to only driving on pavement your will feel small bumps for the short distance 3km. Road has some curves and you will need to be cautious on a few corners as there is some narrow areas- but mostly a 2 lane road all the way. I saw cars, vans, 4x4 vehicles traveling at some pretty fast speeds, along with most vehicles using some wise speed. Pull over to let the locals by as they are used to the road and want to get home/work etc. Walking tips: Be sure to bring at least 1L - 1.5L of water out you. There are NO trees or any shade on the walk or beach. Bring a hat, and if you are sensitive to dust a face cover as cars will kick up some dust. If you Walk on the ocean side as the wind predominantly is blowing from there and you will have less. There can be times when there is no wind and you will certainly feel the heat. Have sturdy runners or hikers on as there are numerous small rocks on the road. Not a lot of elevation changes but a few small hills I am short and take my time to take photos etc- took be 1.5 hrs one way from the EuroSpar to Popcorn Beach. So consider a snack if you think you will want one- there are no snack stands. Enjoy it’s a great experience to see the barren land, hear the crash of the waves hitting to coastlines, and the contrasting colours of the sea, waves, sky, and corral.

We took our 8 and 11 year old and thought we would be a couple of hours. The place was so good that we ended up staying from opening time until closing time! Amazing place and well worth a visit.
