Had an excellent time. Breath taking views. Swimming with the star fish at the sand bar in blur clear crystal waters was enjoyable. Wish could have been there a little longer to snorkel. Saona Island is georgios. Loved the lay out and the beach was clean and well maintained Only part that I didn't care for was on arrival prior to getting on the boat, locals were there selling merchandise. 2 young men one with an iguana and another with a monkey corner my daughter and I, Took her phone and started taking pictures. Than they demanded $20 for the pictures that they took on her cell phone without our approval. So a total of $40. I said no , I started to walk away and they continued to follow us to the boat. At one point they had their hand on my backpack. I told them again, NO and got on the boat.

This was by far the worst excursion I have ever been on. We spent 8 hours in the car. The listing says 2.5 hours but they made us change busses 4 times to get there and it was 5 hours there because we went way out of the way. On the way back it took 3.5 hours and we missed our dinner reservation. The itinerary says 2.5 hours there and back and a 10 hour trip total so 5 hours in the city. Nope. 8.5 hours in the car and maybe like 3 hours total for all of our stops. The different vans/busses we took were dirty and gross. They had garbage in them and one smelt really bad. Not to mention each bus was jam-packed with people. Had to sit next to someone I didn’t even know in the midst of COVID due to that. Every person on the tour spoke English, but the tour guide spoke Spanish mostly to the two people who were bilingual so we didn’t really learn very much. The tour guide left us multiple times and we were stuck waiting for him or looking for him- we found him one time and he was at a bar drinking a beer. The entire thing felt like a giant money grab. They will take any change they can get to literally force you through some attraction that costs extra money or concession stands/ gift shops, etc. We were taken from store to store with extremely pushy sales people. We were forced to wait at one store for almost 40 minutes! We were all ready to go but weren’t allowed to leave. We came to see the city- not to shop at whatever store the tour company made deals with. A few places we literally saw them hand our tour guide money for bringing us there. The food was not good either. There were only a few things at the “buffet” and they give you one tiny drink. This was such a waist of one of my last days in the DR. Had I known it would mostly been a long car trip in an uncomfortable overpacked van I would have never gone in the first place. It was a complete ripoff and the vendor refused to give a refund stating “the tour was provided as advertised in the tour description” but I can 100% guarantee you that it was not.

Let me just say, that i have done ATV tours many times, in DR, Mexico, etc... when i say - this one is different - i mean it! Ride along the beautiful beach under coconut palms... enjoy fresh air - not dust, stop for a swim at a private beach, visit local villagers. Try local food. Learn about Coconut oil making along the way... and i even bought a real machete from a local shop. 3.5 hours of pure riding - even my two teenage sons were satisfied. Great tour guides who were there to answer questions along the way. Under 1 hour ride from most hotels in a comfortable bus. Well worth the time and money spent. Recommendations - wear long pants - engines can get pretty hot and your calfs will feel it. Cover back of your neck with bandana - it will get burned. Observe how locals dress - they know best. Sunscreen for your face and arms and ears. Sunglasses. And make sure you bring cash for your guides and for shopping. Fresh marakuya juice and crab empanadas purchased from locals were a very nice snack. Highly recommend. Dima and Rustam - your guides are the best!

We had a great day touring the turquoise waters of the Dominican Republic on this first class boat. The crew and Joy all wanted to make sure we had the best time and were very communicative when booking. We had an on-time pickup at our hotel that brought us to the meeting point where we were met by Joy right away and given an overview for what to expect for the day. There is a lot of time to enjoy the boat and lay out on the nets at the front of the boat, and also a good amount of activities such as snorkeling and exploring Soana Island for an hour. The meal included was delicious! You wont regret booking this excursion, many of the other tours we saw were crammed with people and did not look nearly as relaxing as this tour. It can have up to 30 people, but we only had 10 people on our tour.

A comfortable bus will take you from the hotel and we will embark on our journey (drive time is 2 hours). Our first stop will be the Three Eyes cave. This cave got its name thanks to three crystal clear lakes located at a depth of 15 meters. However, in 1916, the fourth lake was discovered, which is considered to be the most spectacular. And we will definitely visit it! Our next stop will be the colonial city. Here we can plunge into the atmosphere of authenticity and feel the spirit of the Spanish conquerors. You will enjoy an exciting walk along the first street of the New World, a visit to the house of Diego Columbus, a fort of the 16th century and the first temple of the New World, where the ashes of Christopher Columbus were found. At the end, you will have lunch with a gorgeous view of the colonial square. Next, we will go to the eastern part of the city, where we will visit the Columbus Lighthouse.

DO NOT BOOK A TOUR WITH THIS COMPANY. I booked via Viator (first mistake) and paid in full for this trip. I was so excited to go diving and spend the day on Catalina Island. Excursion Star left a voicemail at 8:45 pm the night before my trip (I don’t have an international phone plan so I can’t receive or make calls without wifi) that stated “we will be picking you up in your hotel lobby at 7:30 am tomorrow morning. I got home around 12:30 am, listened to the VM and texted them saying I got the VM and would be ready and waiting in the lobby. I was in the lobby waiting at 7:20 am, by the time 7:40 am rolls around I start texting and messaging Viator. No one messages back. I tried calling (I had to pay for making this international call) but it didn’t ring. Then at 7:50 am someone from the tour company calls and says they aren’t coming because I didn’t call them back last night (at 9 pm even though the website states they closed at 4 pm) to “confirm pick up”. I was confused because I thought the VM was confirming pick up as they said “ this call is to confirm pick up and we will be picking up at 7:30 am in the lobby of your hotel”. I begged them to come get me as it was the only day I could dive and I already paid, begged them even though this was clearly NOT my error. They refused and then refused refunding me. Luckily I have the voicemail which clearly supports my side. Unluckily I not only missed out on diving and Catalina Island, but had to spend the entire morning on the phone with Viator proving they no-showed. Viator should be on the side of the customer who PAID for a tour they didn’t receive and the tour operator should have to provide the burden of proof. Instead I had to send the voicemail recording and documentation supporting the fact that they never called “numerous times to no avail to reach me”, they never texted or emailed. Very poor customer service and ruined my vacation. Pay a little extra and go with a tour company that values your time and your expectations for a vacation!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. You will be left with a ruined vacation and zero help. I should add this is the second time I’ve booked a tour with Viator where the tour operator no-showed and you have to fight tooth and nail to get a refund even when you have all the supporting documentation proving you were not in the wrong. Viator and it’s operators are just trying to rip you off-not worth the hassle!!
