Kok-Kiya Valley

Reviewed By NomadyTravel - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

You will reach Kok-Kiya on your way to lake Kel Suu. And this valley is a great spot for night before hiking or horse-riding to the lake. Valley offers amazing atmosphere of rocky ridges, mountain rivers, yurt camps and herds of yaks. You may spend night in local yurt camps or more-adventurous of you may camp with own equipment. If you have some hours for hiking around, definitely hike to hills over camps to enjoy the panorama of the snowy peaks over Kel Suu (Be careful when hiking off the track!). Kok-Kiya is reachable by off-road car or motorcycle, but it's recommended to be eco-friendly and hike from camps to Kel Suu lake.

Barskoon Gorge

Reviewed By NomadyTravel - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Barskoon is a long valley with multiple attractions, but waterfalls are the first-ones you reach by comfortable dirt road (built and used for gold mine). There are multiple waterfalls at the beginning of the valley, and you may choose which part to visit based on your hiking experience. Hiking paths to waterfalls start at the parking lot, opposite to boulder with sculpture of Yurii Gagarin (soviet cosmonaut, who as others cosmonauts visited Issyk Kul resorts for rehabilitation). Slopes are quite steep and you should be careful when hiking to higher parts of the waterfall. You may visit the waterfalls at any season. They freeze during the winter.

Lenin Peak

Reviewed By alikarim - Dallas, United States

We drove from Saty Mogul to Lenin Peak Yurt Camp; and stayed there 1 night. Teh area around is stunning, with great views of Lenin Peak. You can easily hike from here to many places, and walk around Turpal Kul and other lakes. You can also walk to Base Camps on Lenin Peak. The Yurts are quite basic as are the bathrooms; and it does get cold at night, The meals at the Yurt camps are basic, reasonably comfortable. This is nature, so be prepared for it.
