Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.
A former wet and dry goods market building, centrally located in KL within walking distance of Petaling Street, with 2 levels of shops offering local arts and crafts and also a food court with variety of local and western food. The cool air in the large building allows respite from the heat outside, allowing a more leisurely walk around the various shops and closer look at all that is offered. From batik fashions to carved wooden implements to Chinese artwork to name a few and a good selection of small souvenirs to remind one of their visit to Malysia. Prices are reasonable and bargaining is expected.

There are plenty of activities you can do at this area. Filled with huge malls, good restaurants, amazing street performers, it's a place where you can experience the city vibe of Kuala Lumpur. Bukit Bintang is quite clean compared with other cities in other other south east asia countries. The government did a great a job in improving the area which attracts so many tourist to come and be part of the city culture. Don't be surprised to see multinational faces roaming around taking pictures and enjoying the vibe. Amazing place!

We were staying close to here and found the shopping centre awesome for an interesting browse of high end shops, lots of money changers , easy access to Petronas Towers . We also ate here and used the local supermarket . I find the shopping centres very busy - probably full of tourists escaping the heat ! Nice way to spend some time - lots of food options available

Mid Valley is a great mall to shop or to get all the necessity. It is like everything in one place. There are so many places to dine in which you will not find any difficulties in choosing what to eat. However, the car parks are always full which take too much time queuing and finding a spot. But still I need to bear it because no other great mall as Mid Valley. However, recently I found out an alternative way of parking my car. There is this new mall, KL Eco City Mall across the road and there is a linked bridge from KL Eco City Mall to Mid Valley which might take you few minutes to walk along the bridge. And it is so easy to find empty spots, the parking rate is affordable. You may try one day if it is hard to find empty spots in Mid Valley!
