Krugersdorp (Afrikaans for Kruger's town) is a mining city in the West Rand, Gauteng Province, South Africa founded in 1887 by Marthinus Pretorius. Following the discovery of gold on the Witwatersrand, a need arose for a major town in the west of the reef. The government bought part of the Paardekraal farm and named the new town after the Transvaal president, Paul Kruger. Krugersdorp no longer has a separate municipal government after it was integrated into Mogale City Local Municipality along with surrounding towns. It is now the seat of government for Mogale City.

Quite a bit cave in a most unexpected place. Filled with interested formations and massive stalagmites/stalactites. You can often get a private tour as you may be the only visitors at the time.

Nirox is definitely one of the best places to visit in the Cradle of Humankind. Look out for their regular art fairs or outdoor music shows. It's normally a bit pricy but well worth the experience.

The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, situated within the Cradle of Humankind, is a privately owned game reserve covering some 1200 hectares with over 650 heads of game from over 25 different species of antelope, big game, predators and birds, as well as some very rare and endangered species. The management and staff welcome you and trust that you will enjoy your visit. Day Visitors Day visitors can explore the reserve in their own vehicles along well-maintained gravel roads suited forany vehicle, with a few branching 4x4-exclusive roads for the more adventurous explorer. A leisurely drive through the reserve will take approximately 2-3 hours and usually ends with a stop at the Kiosk / Day Visitors Centre where many braai and picnic facilities are available, along with the Boma Restaurant and Croc Pub, Children's Play Park, Animal Creche and Reptile Park. Other facilities include the incredible Wondercave, the Neck & Deck Café!
Visited this park 3rd-4th April and had a great time. As well as having a self drive safari we also visited the breeding centre ( which is included in price), and we’re lucky enough to see 4 day old white lion cubs with their mother, fantastic experience & one you would not normally see in the wild. We also paid extra to go in with 2, 5 month old lion cubs which for me was a dream come true. We stayed over in one of the log cabins over looking the lion park & could here the roar of the lions during the night. The log cabins are beautiful & you even have your own private hot tub & briie ( barbecue). Throughly enjoyed our trip & would recommend this park for families also.

Beautiful caves. Our tour guide was very friendly and answered most of our questions. I enjoyed this tour, this is definitely a place you should visit if you are looking for adventure and also you are interested in geography and archeology. The temperature drops in the caves so wear something warm. A great way to spend the weekend!
