Koper (Slovene pronunciation: [ˈkoːpəɾ] ( listen)) (Italian: Capodistria) is a city in southwestern Slovenia, with the other Slovenian coastal towns Ankaran, Izola, Piran, and Portorož, situated along the country's 47-kilometre (29-mile) coastline, in the Istrian Region, approximately five kilometres (3.1 miles) from its border with Italy. Having a unique ecology and biodiversity, it is considered an important national natural resource. The city's Port of Koper is the major contributor to the economy of the eponymous city municipality. With only one percent of Slovenia having a coastline, the influence that the Port of Koper also has on tourism was a factor in Ankaran deciding to leave the municipality in a referendum in 2011 to establish its own. The city is a destination on a number of Mediterranean cruising lines. In 2016, the city expects 65 cruise ship arrivals (for example: Norwegian Spirit, MSC Magnifica, Norwegian Jade, MS Rhapsody of the Seas...) with the season spanning from March to December. Koper is the main urban centre of the Slovenian Istria, with a population of about 25,000.

Loved this tour so much the caves were incredible and so fascinating , it was so easy to keep up with the tour guide and the hike was not to bad and when finished u have 2 options on getting back to the main entrance one is a elevator and one is another small hike back

My friend and I had only one day to explore Slovenia, so chose this tour with this company. Before we even left, Peter, our driver, called personally to reconfirm where and when we would meet, and then arrived right on time. Slovenia is a beautiful, clean country, and we loved hearing the stories along the way about the country and the places we would visit. The excursion was planned perfectly with just enough time for personal exploration without feeling rushed or herded along. In fact, because there was an overflow, our 8 person van included just the two of us. I so appreciated the fact that the tour wasn't just cancelled. That would have ruined all of our plans. If you are looking for a reliable, safe, congenial company and guide, this is the company to use. I travel a lot, and cruise often as well, so know how important it is to get back to port on time. I would thoroughly trust this company. As for Peter, our driver. He was so open, honest, and personable, it was like traveling with a trusted friend. He spoke wonderful English and displayed such a love and knowledge of his country. He gave us ideas as to where to go and offered a special lunch in Lake Bled. His knowledge of food and wine was most helpful. If you have even just one day to explore Slovenia, this is highly recommended.

We had an excellent tour with Marina as our guide for the Piran & Istrian Flavors tour. Istranka was easy to work with booking our tour and responded promptly. We were picked up at the port and driven to Piran for a short walking tour of this scenic village with 15th c Venetian Gothic architecture with some free time on our own. We then drove thru the countryside to a small family owned winery for a tour and tastings. Lastly, we drove to Marina's horse farm for a short tour and then a fantastic lunch she had prepared for us that included appetizer, soup and salad, homemade bread, gnocci with wild boar and panna cotta with figs in wine sauce or strawberries. My mouth waters thinking of it. I had set up the tour on CruiseCritic for 6 and the others indicated this tour really had a WOW factor and they felt fortunate to be on this small tour. ONE of the VERY BEST TOURS we have ever taken is how I would describe our tour with Marina.
