Konitsa (Greek: Κόνιτσα) is a town of Ioannina in Epirus, Greece, near the Albanian border. It is located north of the capital Ioannina, and northeast of a group of villages known as the Zagorochoria. The town was built amphitheatrically-shaped on a mountain slope of the Pindos mountain range from where it overlooks the valley where the river Aoos meets the river Voidomatis.

The hidden tree church of St. Paisios was built inside a burnt oak tree, following in the footsteps of St. Paisios, who in his youth passed through the area, going to the nearby village of Amarantos to perform carpentry work on local houses. a few meters after the junction for the village of Agia Varvara, next to the road to Amaranto. The tree had been internally destroyed and set on fire (bystanders set fire to heat, or to barbecue) and with the result that every year its condition deteriorates and is ready to collapse. The tree to be saved was shielded internally with stone from the area and turned into a tree. Externally there is a small bell while inside there is a recess where the visitor can light a candle, a candle, a picture of Christ and Our Lady and in the center the image of Saint Paisios flooded with tribes of pilgrims. In Greece there are very few similar churches - places of pilgrimage within a tree and arouse the interest of Greek and foreign visitors.

Jut awsome. The bridge and the history behind it is a must visit and learn. Do yourself a favour and visit it next time you are in Greece.
