Anaehoomalu

Reviewed By christinern - Vancouver, Canada

Go in the morning, before the waves and wind pick up. A long beach to walk, there are loungers close to the Marriott resort. Good for boogie boarding, some snorkeling and swimming. Lots of shade if you get there early. Beautiful sunsets from behind the fish pond looking towards the ocean. Walk down the beach past Lava Lava to spot turtles on the rocks and beach. Many feral and friendly cats live here.

Puako Bay

Reviewed By 160marciek

We rented kayaks while we stayed in Puako to go out into open water snorkeling and see the whales. The first part of Puako Bay is shallow and rocky with many fish including ray. Then once you get out past the rocks and work your way into the sea, there are places to tie up your kayak and drop in to snorkel. We took a guide the first time, to find the spots and then went back often. We saw whales as well-fairly close by. Beautiful area.

I live on the East side of the Island of Hawaii. Any time I travel to the other side to go to Kona Airport to pick up or drop someone off, this is my main stop. Grab a lunch or a drink or just a snack to make it back over the mountain. The food and dessert choices are very diverse. We've stayed at the resorts before and this store has everything you need to purchase for your meals while vacationing in the area. Even clothing. Love it! This store has something for any age group.

First of all if you stay at the Fairmont Orchid, there is a shuttle available to take you from the hotel to here and you can call for a shuttle back from any store. This place is just so convenient and they carry a lot of essentials. They also sell lunch boxes we bought a bento with a musubi and fried chicken in it, and a 6.99$ spicy ahi poke bowl here (the poke tasted great by the way). This is a great way to save on lunch or breakfast or if you wake up late brunch! They also carry grocery items and fresh fruits that you can enjoy on your trip.

Waikoloa Petroglyph Preserve

It's a very peaceful educational walk. Very, very interesting reading the wonderful very old petroglyphs. This area is very easy to get to as its well signed just to the North of the Waikoloa Shell gas station. The pathway is very well maintained so it would be easy for any wheelchair bound person.

Nice collection of shops including some high end stores. Easy open air walking with a few restaurants as well. There is a gas station also beside the parking lot which is very convenient. From Whalers General Store with just about anything Hawaii and sundries to Tiffany’s Jewelry just like in NYC, it’s nice browsing or shopping.
